Starz will offer a new take on the King Arthur legend with the premiere of "Camelot", scheduled to air at 10pm on April 1st, 2011.
The series, initially planned for a 10-episode season, will star Jamie Campbell Bower as Arthur, Joseph Fiennes as Merlin, Eva Green as the sorceress Morgan, Tamsin Egerton as Guinevere, Claire Forlani as Igraine and Peter Mooney as Kay.
The series' official description is as follows:
In the wake of King Uther's sudden death, chaos threatens to engulf Britain. When the sorcerer Merlin has visions of a dark future, he installs the young and impetuous Arthur, Uther's unknown son and heir, who has been raised from birth as a commoner. But Arthur's cold and ambitious half sister Morgan will fight him to the bitter end, summoning unnatural forces to claim the crown in this epic battle for control. These are dark times indeed for the new King, with Guinevere being the only shining light in Arthur's harsh world. Faced with profound moral decisions, and the challenge of uniting a kingdom broken by war and steeped in deception, Arthur will be tested beyond imagination. Forget everything you think you know ... this is the story of Camelot that has never been told before.

Another network jumping on the Merlin bandwagon?
It always impresses me how many different takes you can get on the one central story.
I remember seeing the musical at the Stratford festival when I was in high school. It was an amazing play, I still occasionally listen to the soundtrack. I know this has nothing to do with that aside from the name and basic story, but I'll give it a go.
Sounds good to me. I've enjoyed "Merlin" and I'm always up for another fantasy TV series.
I'm with you Rico.. can never have enough fantasy TV series.
Glad it's Starz and not Syfy...
You know - this is looking pretty cool! Great cast!

Has anyone started watching this yet? I think a couple episodes have aired so far.
No I don't have Starz.. just like with Game of Thrones (HBO).. I'll have to wait until DVD release or find other means to get them.
As long as there is no Ben Afleck....I am ok with it...
hah i was just watching star trek meets monty python and they are all singing about how they should on second thought not go to camelot.
I have just finished watching the first episode on the Starz website and enjoyed it. I shall have to wait until it starts airing over here later this summer to see the rest of the series.
Well major bummer. Starz decided NOT to renew Camelot for a second season. They cite "production difficulties" :(
We only watched the first two episodes of this. It didn't really grab us I'm afraid.
So it's YOUR FAULT!!!! :(
Sorry!

Are you just not learning this?? Why production didn't get long term contract with the actors, so when they were done with season one they moved on to other project and weren't able to come back to season two. But I heard they are trying to work something out and do a season two that would just come out later then planned.
