Post by: Geekyfanboy on December 17, 2010, 12:51:33 PM
There have been posts in the past about this cool website.. they have very geeky design tee shirts for only $9, thing is they only sale them for 24 hours and they are gone.. I've gotten 3 or 4 of there tees and they are great and I've missed some really awesome designs.

You can check them daily here...  http://www.teefury.com/ (http://www.teefury.com/)

Below is today's t-shirt and it's pretty cool.. only 8 hours left (they are set to EST)

Their grab bags always scared me as I'm not a fan of many of their designs.. but good luck.

Wow there's some really cool stuff there. If I get some free time I might try my hand at designing something. I mean that is my field in college and it could be fun.

Dunno, I think a Cylon might win against a Dalek.

Yeah, I thought maybe that was it too.  But looking at the pic again, what is that head on the left above C-3PO's arm next to the Dalek plunger?  It's got a slot in it - is that suppose to be a Cylon head??

P.S.  Hmm - now I think it might be that robot from "The Black Hole" Disney film.

Isn't the thing below 3PO's arm the robot from Black Hole?

I wonder if they need to pay anything to CBS/Paramount on things like this?  Cool shirt.

I don't think so.. I know they have to clear all the images so it doesn't infringe any copyrights.. They were doing a Torchwood one last week and it had to be re-designed because it didn't pass.

Seems like they walk a mighty fine line.  I'm thinking of the both the red shirt Trek one I got and the Doctor Who/Stargate mashup they did.  Both clearly represent the various properties but I guess they were ok with them.  The only reason I kind of bring it up is I'm still kind of bugged Cafe Press wouldn't let me use them for my TSF t-shirts with the "Spock" artwork on them.  I guess it has to be something much more obvious to get a red flag.

I have this one:

http://www.teefury.com/archive/930/Cloned_to_Kill/ (http://www.teefury.com/archive/930/Cloned_to_Kill/)

and it seems pretty close to the line as well. At the end of the day I'm just glad we get cool t-shirts!

Yeah it seems to be a very fine line as I was under the impression of copyright infringement was anything that was a reproduction of a copyrighted item.. the majority of these tees put a twist on the subject.. I mean you know what it is but it's slightly different.. or different enough to not infringe on their copyright.

But with that said.. The Dalek one looks just like a Dalek to me..

You know what we need on these boards? A lawyer. I mean we have scientists, financial analysts, people in the entertainment industry, tech people, tradespeople, students...

No lawyers (no MD's either I believe). It'd be interesting to get a legal angle on some questions.

That's the last thing we need! I'd take a Doc, though. :)
