Title: Flying Machine
Post by: davekill on November 30, 2010, 06:42:51 PM
When I was a kid, I hoped we would be flying something like this in "outer space" by now.
A cool picture non the less.

To think that the wing span of the B-2 was exactly the same as Jack Northrop's original design of the jet-powered YB-49 flying wing back in 1947

Have you ever seen one in person before? Cause I will tell it's really cool to see and watching one take off and fly. They are really cool machines.

That is something I'd love to see. I've been to a few air shows etc over here but, unsurprisingly, they're largely UK aircraft (or at least those that we've bought or leased form the US). I very much doubt we'd ever take a few of those off your hands.

Saw one of these at the air show over the summer.  Most impressive.

It actually wasn't in the airshow I went to, it had to take off for a mission or something while we were there on the base for the show, but we got to watch it prep and take off.

I saw one at Andrews Airforce Base once.  It was in a hangar so the satellites couldn't get photos of it.  It was amazing!  And guarded by soldiers with loaded automatic weapons by signs saying use of deadly force has been authorized.
