The new podcast is up for the week all about cool collectibles. Got a nice mix of listener audio comments too as I try and give some ideas on collectibles worth checking out and sites to peruse. Hope you enjoy this one folks. It was a fun topic that I haven't talked much about in awhile.

Great episode Rico, I enjoyed this one a lot. Fun to hear you guys talk about your collections. It makes me want a FX lightsaber. drool. Do people sell used ones?
GREAT PODCAST! THANK YOU!
I'm guessing you might find a used FX lightsaber on eBay. But be careful, some people really abuse them and they might not be in the best shape. Glad you liked the podcast. Another fun subject to talk about.
Definitely a cool and interesting show. Aside from Star Wars books (of various forms) I'm not much of a collector myself, but I've always been very interested in it.
I have to agree with you about Arnie and Marjorie from SWAN (and all their other podcasts!) they really are extraordinary people.
Yeah, I am a fan of SWAN for collecting news as well as Now Playing and Republic Forces Radio, good stuff! ForceCast is still better, though. :starwars:
Do they cover collectibles on ForceCast too?

Not really, but they have a new bi-monthly show that does. When I say better I mean in just the overall Star Wars content in the FC is really great.

Not a fan of ForceCast.

See, I don't get that. I don't get this ForceCast vs. SWAN thing that seems to exist. FC has much better access to Star Wars insiders and info while SWAN focuses on collecting, they are completely different shows, so why the animosity? It's all just fun Star Wars news.
For me to listen to a podcast I have to like and enjoy the host or hosts. That's the biggest thing, even more than the content sometimes. Anyway, that's just my viewpoint.

Yeah I agree Rico.. host/hosts play a big part.. that's why I enjoy the Forcecast, don't think I've listen to SWAN before (of course I've heard of the podcast).
Well the big difference between SWAN and ForceCast is that SWAN is much, much more focused on collecting where ForceCast has a collecting segment. Kenny as a collector I think you'd be very interested in the SWAN community. Your wallet might not be though :)

Yeah I have really avoided buying Star Wars stuff the past 10 years. I know if I start I'd be poorer then I already am. :) Maybe that's why I don't listen to SWAN.. the temptation.
Arnie and Marjorie are so passionate about it I think that might be the case :)
Loving the podcast! Man, I used to make phasers and communicators in wood shop! A friend of mine and I tried building a full sized transporter console in his basement out of plywood using gum drops fro lights just like TOS! I can also remember New Eye Studio's newspaper catalogue being the only source of fan made replicas for sale. They had $500 phasers which weren't even screen accurate! Now I can get an A.A. for $25!
I do still check out the RPF daily, lot's of amazing Stormtrooper discoveries latley including a full screen used ANNH suit.
Great Podcast Rico and great Comments Kenny and Bryan. I just can never tire of collectible talk.
I used to listen to both Star Wars Action News and the Force Cast regularly, but ran out of time with Podcast listening. Now that I spend a few hours on a commute each day, probably have time to listen to again. I have to keep up on my Clone Wars listening so that I don't get spoiled. I found with SWAN, at times they could get a bit negative about Star Wars and Collecting, which sort of made me think if they did not like it why keep doing it. ForceCast at times could get a bit Rah Rah and came off as Shills for Star Wars, but they had the inside scoop that SWAN did not have. I guess there can never be a happy medium, but the benefit of more time in transit to work is I have time for these once again.
Hey Jeff, I also think the eFX TIE looks great as well as the stunt saber hilts, great prop for the $.
Rico, I think the Luke ROTJ reveal saber is still a go, they had one at Celebration and Comic Con to show and I thought they still had them for pre-order on the site.
Bryan - I really thought I heard the Luke ROTJ reveal and Obi-Wan extreme saber were both either canceled or delayed. I didn't see either up for preorders.

eFX's site is blocked for some reason here at my office so I can't go check. See if it's still up there.
I just checked the eFx site again. Only two items are up for order, the Ahsoka saber and the Stormtrooper helmet. The Luke reveal saber and the Obi-Wan extreme are listed in the "in development" area but have had no updates put up since 2009. I'm pretty sure still that both are on "indefinite hold." I had heard it was mainly a costing thing.
That's too bad, they showed the Luke ROTJ this year at CV and SDCC and the engineering prototype looked awesome. It was along side the new stunt sabers. I have never seen the Obi Wan in pictures.
Both prototypes have been at cons several times. I'm pretty sure if you search the RPF you can find pics of the Obi-Wan too. I think it first was shown at the Toyfare con like a year and half or more ago. Like early 2009, if I recall correctly.
You're right, I do recall those. That one doesn't seem to make as much sense, from ICONS to MR, that saber had been done to death. The reveal is a neat idea and the MR ROTJ was a very popular item which has held value.

Huh? The extreme version you mean? I don't recall it ever being done like eFx was planning. Inner workings, guts showing, comes apart, etc.
No, I mean MR original Luke ROTJ hero hilt. That saber was very popular, sold out, and now commands some nice resale value on e-bay.
I was talking about your comment saying the
"That one doesn't seem to make as much sense, from ICONS to MR, that saber had been done to death."
You were only talking about the Luke saber?
Anyway, yeah the Luke ROTJ piece is great. I have both the Elite MR version and the V2 one in my collection.
Oh, sorry, no I was refering to the Obi Wan.

That's what I thought. I say bring 'em all on! I need me some more sabers! LOL!
Hey, hold on! Rico, did I hear you mention the second Harry Potter film might be in 3D? Where was all your 3D rage for that?! You gave it a total pass! :boxing
Even as a non-collector I found that quite fun (although I do have a strange yearning to have a lightsabre or a TNG phaser lying around the house).
It was an interesting window onto an area of fandom I know little about.

Well, I still think it's a silly idea. But I don't NOT see movies I still want to see just because they are in 3-D. For those, I just go see them in non-3D. Like the recent "Megamind." Lynn and I saw that, but in a non-3D theater.

I am still a bit on the fence with the 3D, but with that said, Tron definite for me in 3D, as that looks like a movie that would be perfect for it, and I get the feeling it could swing me over to be totally on board with 3D.
All the Saber talk between you and Bryan has me wanting for another, I have been monitoring the Dooku one for a bit and hoping it shows up on the efx site or Action Figure Express. I see it on Entertainment Earth, but their shipping like you noted in the Podcast Rico, sky high. Wished I was onboard years earlier as a Obi-Wan would be cool to own.
Your comments Rico on the Sideshow 1/6 scale were similar to me, I collected quite a few early on, but have dropped off due to price and some that I was not as compelled to get. But the last two I did get were the Stormtrooper and the ANH Vader, and really happy I did, since I think the Vader in particular is hard to find now.
Jeff - check out www.brianstoys.com (http://www.brianstoys.com) for sabers, etc. I'm not sure how their shipping compares, but they carry a lot of FX sabers. I also think you can get a discount code from "Star Wars Action News." Just can't recall what the the code is (maybe, SWAN).
Great podcast Rico.. love that I'm able to catch up on so many of these that I missed.
