Fallout New Vegas is a new action RPG released by Bethesda Studios and Obsidian Entertainment, the teams responsible for the huge hit games for Xbox 360/PS3 Obvlivion and Fallout 3. You play as a double crossed "courier" in the post apocalyptic wastelands of Nevada, where you quest to find the reasons for your betrayal and to take your revenge on the men responsible. One thing that has fans of the Fallout universe extremely excited about this game is that the creative team from Obsidian is made up of individuals formerly employed by Black Isle Studios, who worked on the original classic PC games Fallout 1 & 2. These guys have been planning sequels to the original Fallout games for almost fifteen years, and they were not involved with 2007's Fallout 3, so it is huge that they finally have the chance to do this one. The game is extremely similar to Fallout 3, using the same engine, combat system, and players of that game will find it extremely familiar, but it significantly improves on the original in several key areas, like story and gameplay depth.
I've been playing this game for a little more than a week now, and I am totally obsessed. There is so much to do in this game that it is impossible to see it all in one playthrough. There's a robust karma/reputation system that impacts how different "factions" in the game world react to you, based on actions you take and conversation choices you make. Early on, if you choose to anger the Legion, for example, whole quest lines from their faction become unavailable while others open up for the New California Republic. They've improved the companion system from Fallout 3 also, where you meet various robots, animals, and humanoids across the world who can be coerced or convinced to join you on your quest, and invariably have tasks of their own you can help them complete as well. Everywhere you turn there's a new area to explore, loot to scavenge, and quests to undertake. You can explore for hours and hours without advancing the main storyline if you so choose.
This game is awesome and fun, and I am giving it my highest recommendation.

I'm playing this one as well. Really enjoying it! I just wish I had more free time :)
I haven't decided whether or not I like it better then Fallout 3 as of yet, I think I need to get a bit deeper into the story first. I do like the whole setting and environment with the two main factions and the vegas strip. Looking forward to putting in some more hours!
For me Fallout 3 got pretty boring and repetitive. In fact I actually quit playing in the middle and only picked it up again to finish at the beginning of this year. I did enjoy it but it didn't ever suck me in the way that New Vegas has. All the environments in 3 seemed the same, and I didn't have as much of a desire to explore and experience new areas because it seemed there was very little to differentiate one place from another. New Vegas shares the same bleak post apocalyptic setting but it does a much better job giving you a variety of places to see and things to do. I do however miss how there were so many recognizable landmarks from the DC and Maryland area that were the focus of the Fallout 3 game world.
idk, I've basically written off Bethesda after several failures and the Oblivion game being so bad. So I'm not sure if I'm going to really get into New Vegas or not.

Joe & Joby are you both playing it on the 360?
i loved Fallout 3 and all the add-ons. I played on the 360 and enjoyed it a great deal. Don't think I'll pick this up though, no particular reason. Just addicted to Call of Duty: Black Ops now!! ROCKS!!

Yup!
360 indeed. Microsoft has an exclusivity deal with Bethesda for all downloadable content for some undisclosed amount of time, so the system choice was easy (poor Sony).
Oblivion bad? You have very different taste than me in gaming. Oblivion is one of my favorite games of all time.
I enjoyed Oblivion a lot though the combat system was a bit janky for my tastes.
Fallout 3 was a GREAT game. I can't wait to try Vegas.
Felicia Day has a part in this new video.. I think her name is Veronica.
There's quite a lot of recognizable names in the voice cast for this game. Michael Dorn, Kris Kristofferson, Matthew Perry come immediately to mind though there's more I think as well.
Yeah, Felicia voices one of your potential companions. I haven't run into her yet but when I do I'm definitely gonna take her on to my team :)
Two other notable voices are Micheal Hogan (who'c character you meet in the first 5 minutes of the game) and Rene Auberjonois.
And as usual the opening monologue is Ron Pearlman.
Unfortunately Felicia's "perk" is not very helpful. All companions offer some type of bonus to gameplay, which enhances different aspects of the game, such as combat, medicine, crafting etc. Felicia's allows you to craft anywhere in the field, where normally you have to be at a workbench in a town. Useful if you craft, but so far my character hasnt done this at all. I will eventually travel with her to do her quest, but generally I prefer the combat enhancement of some of the other companions.
