The proposed 'Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome' webseries gets a major upgrade and may even become a full TV series.

Back in July, Syfy announced that it had ordered a "Battlestar Galactica" webseries called "Blood & Chrome" with former "Battlestar Galactica" co-executive producer Michael Taylor on board to write the nine mini episodes.
However, Syfy reportedly liked the script so much that "Blood & Chrome" will now air on the network as a TV movie, according to TV Squad. The movie may begin production in Vancouver early next year. Additionally, it may even serve as a prelude to a new "Battlestar Galactica" TV series.
"When we read Michael's script, it was so clearly a full-blown pilot for a series," said Syfy Executive Vice President of Original Programming, Mark Stern. "The scope is fantastic and bigger, I think, than anticipated, so we said, 'Let's do it as a 2-hour backdoor pilot.' We're trying to get up and running as soon as possible."
"Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome" will follow a young William Adama during the tenth year of the first Cylon War. The initial story finds Adama and a rookie pilot escorting a female character on an important mission that may change the course of the war.
"Your way into the story is a young William Adama who is not the grizzled old veteran we have come to love in 'BSG,'" added Stern. "This is someone who is more like us, in terms of coming into this with certain preconceptions and learning as you go. ... It's very much about relationships along the way. I think ultimately the arc of the pilot and of the series is about getting Adama to be who you came to know in 'BSG.'"
During the TV movie "Battlestar Galactica: Razor," the William Adama of that era was played by Nico Cortez. However, there is no guarantee that Cortez will reprise his role in this project.
"I'm assuming there will be a full casting process for this pilot, but with Nico [Cortez] at the top of the list," offered Stern. "There's also a chance that we'll meet younger versions of other 'Battlestar' characters or people connected to either that world or to 'Caprica,' but the new project would try to do those things with "a light touch."
Although there is currently no date set for "Blood & Chrome" to air, late 2011 and early 2012 are apparently the most likely time frame according to the report.
This would be AWESOME. More Galactica would be more then welcome.
"So say we all!"
That's great news! :cylon
Looks like this is pretty much a sure thing. :) http://www.wired.com/underwire/2010/10/battlestar-blood-chrome/ (http://www.wired.com/underwire/2010/10/battlestar-blood-chrome/)
Which is OUTSTANDING NEWS! It sounds like the show will be what some fans hoped Caprica would be. Don't get me wrong, I liked a lot of what Caprica was trying to do, but I'll admit it: The Cylon War & space dog-fights is what I really want to see. ;D
I think the plot threads brought up in Caprica will be easier to swallow if they are presented as flashbacks and supporting story development for THIS series.
'Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome' stars revealed -- EXCLUSIVE
by James Hibberd
Categories: Scoop, Television, TV Biz
Who's going to play young William Adama in Syfy's highly anticipated Battlestar Galactica prequel?
Syfy has cast Luke Pasqualino (Skins – UK) as Adama and Ben Cotton (Hellcats, Riese) as the battle-weary officer to whom he will report in Blood & Chrome.
Official character description:
Pasqualino will star as the young, talented fighter pilot William Adama, a recent Academy graduate who finds himself assigned to the newest Battlestar in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Full of ambition and in pursuit of the intense action that the Cylon war promises, Adama quickly finds himself at odds with Coker (Cotton), the battle-weary officer to whom he reports. With 45 days left in his tour of duty, Coker desires an end to battle just as much as Adama craves the start of it. Though they clash at first, the two men forge an unlikely bond when a routine mission turns dangerous and becomes a pivotal one for the desperate fleet.

THis is sounding more like it.
Sounds frakking awesome! Now they just need to have Katee back to play Starbuck's mom and I'll be in heaven! ;)

She wasn't a nice woman as I recall. Are you sure you'd want Katee to tarnish her image in that role (she was military wasn't she)?
"The show, which Stern said wouldn't air before the end of 2011, said the show would employ virtual sets produced by digitally scanning the Battlestar Galactica sets before they were taken down"

I say put the standing sets back up.
Blood & Chrome can only make a ton of money if done right (don't be so cheap).
- Oh yeah: Less talk more fighting, enough said.

I totally agree! I want to see good old fashioned toasters and lots of fighting. For crying out loud put the old sets back up. It can only make the show better.
Let's hope they learned their lesson and go for the right demographic with the show.
Time to resurrect this old thread, apparently this was shown at WonderCon, all I can say is holy frak!

Looking forward to that! Didn't see much of the Cylons but the CGI does look pretty good. I wonder if they'll keep continuity with new BSG and Caprica and show the original Centurion models too?
Excellent news - I have been wondering what was going on with this series.
That looks fraking awesome!
Man, that's looks so good! I'm ready for some new Battlestar Galactica!
Holy Frak indeed!!!

Is there an ETA on this yet?
I'm hoping we will see it next season.
Holy frak doesn't even begin to cover it!!! I'm so excited by this. I did a quick web search and can't find an air date, but Bear McCreary has said he has finished the score already. Couple links to look at:

Nope.. Wondercon is extremely small compared to SDCC. Very few "TV or Movie" booths. It's mostly retail.
Please at least give us a movie!

Well that's just unfortunate.
I hope you're right Bryan and they can turn the pilot into a self contained TV Movie at least.
Hmmm, access denied: "This video contains content from NBC Universal, who has blocked it on copyright grounds."
Should read : "Any good ideas, or hope for our studio has been blocked by our current clueless research and marketing executives." :joker
Possibly gonna be a web series? That's weird. Nobody wants to put money into a sci-fi show anymore.
I found this on IMDB.

It would do well as a movie of the week, but better as a pilot for a new series :love
Finally gonna start airing this online 11/9, and the movie will air on SyFy in early 2013...new trailer, looks great! Old Basestars and Raiders!

Good news! I have been dying to see this. Maybe we'll get lucky and it will generate enough buzz that they will reconsider the franchise.
It looks awesome
Don't like the bite-size webisodes format though, I'll wait for the DVD release.
Really glad they didn't shelve it forever.
Frakking awesome news!!!
Whoa. Awesome.
Yes!
Glad to see this finally becoming a thing. :)
Oh yeah!

"Episode 1" - Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pT79x4qM4FE#ws)
Pretty awesome first episode! But...was this a JJ Abrams production? What the flip with the over abundance of lens flaring! :) But still....AWESOME!
Loved this... wish Syfy picked this up for a series.. this feels so much more like BSG then Caprica.
Kenny, agreed. I didn't care for Caprica...but this feels like BSG! Loved the first 2 episodes...huh, just watched finished the 2nd episode and at the end there was a graphic that said Airing on SYFY February 2013!
I'm holding off to watch this on Blu-ray with Jamie in Feb. :)
It's Fraking good Bryan...but like I said, the lens flaring, the glared lensing...a bit distracting and I feel overly used. Luckily the story, SFX, visuals...all compensate for it!
Here's Ep 2
Yeah Al.. read that it's going to air on Syfy in Feb with an extended edition... then then the DVD/Bluray is released.
"Episode 2" - Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdisGiivP9c#ws)
Ooooh, I got goosebumps with that shot a brand spankin' new Galactica. Why isn't this already a full series??!!
"Gentlemen, do not frack this up."
Missed BSG so much!
Man, this is even better than I thought it would be. Everything is just so... Galactica... the young Adama is perfect, the look, the music, the effects, the story so far....frakking loving it! My biggest hope is this does so well they do a new series. I'm off to order my copy off Amazon now!

The great thing is the eps are only about 10 minutes, so you don't have to carve out much.
I just watched the first two ep on youtube on Friday. it was great. I'm so happy to see something from the BSG universe again. so happy I could cry :'(lol.
"Episodes 3 & 4" - Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXCnuArj4b8#ws)
Episode 3 and 4 are up! Cut through the felgercarb and watch!
This just gets better and better! Frakking loving it!!!
I am at a loss for words, it's really amazing!
I'm loving this series.. always leaves you wanting more.... NOW!!!
I'm diggin' it. I can't to see more.
Agree with everyone, I really have no words for how great this is. Fran and I sit in front of the computer and watch. Loving it!
We caved and watched in using Apple TV on our big screen. It looked great on 42"! Love being back in the BSG 'verse. Pretty exciting so far. The shaky cam lens flare is really annoying. And some of the dialogue and characters are a little hokey and stereotype but it's still fun. Hopefully the writing and acting sharpen up a bit.
Episodes 5 & 6!

Woo! Keep forgetting this comes out on Fridays.
Snow cave and neck pinch not as elegant as Spock's...these guys play rough!
looking forward to what's next.
Watched these last night. Still enjoying it but continue to be disappointed by the writting. Some of the characters are really sad stereotypes and some of the dialogue is awful.

Seriously, they sound like rejects from a lame action flick and not like characters from the BSG universe, IMO.
Frak yeah!

Good stuff.. a very enjoying webseries
I finally got around to watching this last night.
It really felt 'Galactica' rather than 'Caprica' which is a good thing in my book but I think some of the budget reduction does show.
Having said that, graphically it was all I could have wished for. Loved seeing Vipers and Raptors on TV again (although Raptors have no jump capability in this time?). Some of the throwbacks to Caprica were noticeable too - if nothing else, this really served to tie the two series together.
It was nice to see a veritable who's-who of the Canadian acting scene too. So many recognisable faces.
Come on SciFi (SyFy) make it into a series...please.
Great ending, sure would love to see this continue.
Yep, liked the final 4 episodes MUCH more. I stand corrected, I really enjoyed this at the end of the day. :)
The movie version of this is set to air on the SyFy channel on Feb. 10th - with additional scenes and footage too! Frak yeah!! :cylon
Though most Battlestar Galactica fans probably already checked out the prequel series Blood and Chrome when it debuted online last year, we've been waiting to hear exactly when the web series would formally debut on TV. Now we know.
The two-hour movie version of the series will debut at 9 p.m. on Feb. 10 on Syfy, featuring additional footage and scenes that were not included in the web episodes. Shortly after the TV premiere, the film cut will be released on DVD, Blu-ray and video-on-demand services on Feb. 19.
Set during the first Cylon War, Blood and Chrome followed a young William Adama (Luke Pasqualino) and a small team sent on a dangerous secret mission deep into Cylon-occupied space. The series was largely shot with green screen and relied heavily on effects work, which gave it a pretty unique look. It'll be interesting to see how that translates from a computer monitor to a TV screen.
The series had been in development for a while, and Syfy teamed up with YouTube channel Machinima Prime to premiere weekly installments last year, which racked up more than 8 million views.
It had a very different vibe from Ronald D. Moore's Battlestar series, and focused more on patriotism and action, as opposed to the slow boil of paranoia and political intrigue. It was a fun ride, and it'll be great to finally see in on a big(ger) screen.

Did anyone check it out.. I totally forgot.. gonna have to catch it on repeat or just buy the DVD.. I mean I really enjoyed the webseries.
I watched it again on syfy the other day. it was as good as the first time. I think there were some extra footage inserted in the movie that I do not recall seeing. some fx shots of the ships.
Amy and I really enjoyed it.
Blood & Chrome now available for download on iTunes, or order DVD or Blu-Ray versions. News came in the mail today. Seems like this is the right place to post this (delete if redundant). $24.95

Just saw Wing Commander.
A lot of similarities with Blood&Chrome.
