Title: Blizzcon 2010
Post by: Rico on October 21, 2010, 02:19:43 PM
Tempted to get the virtual pass still, but I'm going to be pretty busy the next two days so I'm not sure it would be worth it.  Anyway, here it comes - this weekend!  BLIZZ-MANIA!!!

I heard there were some issues with the DirecTV feed a little while ago. It came up from being unavailalbe and was showing tennis :)

Think it's up now.

Do you know if DirecTV also streams the Net feed too or just to TV's/cable?

Wow, they announced a whole lot of nothing. Disappointing.

Isn't the big rumor was or is they will be announcing a new game IP?

Yup, I watched the twit coverage (Tom Merritt and Scott were doing it). They spent a looong time on talking about "what it meant to be a geek". Scott seemed to think that they had something and dropped it at the last minute. I tend to agree. They announced the final class for Diablo (demon hunter) and Diablo PvP battle arenas. Very minor announcements for such a big conference. At the end they played the Cataclysm cinematic they released last week.

If this was all they had, why not hold the Cata cinematic? I think they wanted to announce something else but they weren't ready.

Well, certainly they are working on something new.  I think the big thing that hurt them is it would have been better if Blizzcon was about a month after Cataclysm came out.  I remember Scott and especially Randy talking on "The Instance" months ago about how the new expansion would certainly be out before Blizzcon (which I doubted at the time).  And that would have been cool.  Anyway, I'm not too sad about it all.  Trek cons and other things happen all the time without big fanfare or announcements.  It's just cool to see a bunch of WOW and Blizzard fans all in one place geeking out!
