Title: Ron Moore's Harry Potter-like fantasy show for NBC
Post by: Geekyfanboy on September 01, 2010, 10:54:29 PM
Ron "Battlestar Galactica" Moore is creating a new sci-fi pilot for NBC, a show  Deadline calls "an adult Harry Potter set in a world ruled not by science but by magic."

In Hollywood-speak, Deadline also says "I hear the drama got pilot and series penalties totaling close to $2 million." That's basically the same thing as saying NBC has promised to put a lot of money into the project whether they actually make it or not, and therefore they have 2 million incentives to actually make it.

Keep in mind Fox also spent a lot of money making Moore's Virtuality pilot, then burned it off as a two-hour movie, so don't get too excited yet. Still, this show is "one of the biggest commitments so far this pitch season," which sounds promising.

Sounds like a great idea and I'm sure Ron Moore will do a good job with it.  With the Potter stuff coming to a close, the time sure is right for this.
