Another show is up and I do another full episode commentary for this great TNG episode. Enjoy! :metallica:
I so love the new commentary. When you do this commentary rico I think of you watching the episode with me. This is goin to reel in so many new subscribers. I understand why you have to switch back to the old commentary from time to time. Your show has come really far. I should listen to the first few shows for nostalgia's sake.
Ya, I listened to the first episode recently, and it's truly amazing how far you've come. I'm still catching up on the podcasts from being away for a few weeks... luckily you were away too ;D
Inner Light is also one of my favorite episodes.
Rico, I would like to comment on the new format. I am still catching up on all the podcasts, and actually this may give me a bit of a different perspective. I'm also catching up on the forums, so maybe this has already been noted, sorry if that's the case.
It seems like you go on tangents more with the clip episodes. With the entire episode, I wonder if you are constrained by the flow of the show. With the clips, you are in complete control.
One suggestion, which I don't think is possible, is maybe you could hit pause on the show when you have a longer point to make. You have mentioned many times that you are trying to keep the time of the shows somewhat lower, so this would make it much longer and probably isn't viable. It would also make it harder to watch the show while you have your commentary. ( I don't do this, however, I drive quite a bit in my work so that's when I listen)
It's very hard, there are strong points about each method. I like hearing the whole episode. But I also like the long tangents and then you say something like, "ok, now I'm really off topic." which is funny, because you go into areas that are interesting but can get way off topic.
My $.02
I agree Elizur. It is a bit easier to comment when I just use clips. As I said before I'll be mixing up the format. For example this weekend I'm just going to use clips on the podcast.
That's a good idea Rico. Change it up a little. I don't mind either ways. I love this episode of Star Trek, because it really builds Picards character. Can you imagine living your whole life, then wake up and realize it was a dream! I don't know what I'd do.
interesting risky, i never actually thought about it like that.... it would be very hard.... hmmm..... and sad....
Wow, I'm finally catching up on the podcasts, and listening to this one reminded me about the first time I saw this episode, I actually shed a few tears at the end. In my opinion, a perfect episode.
we all did....

I agree.. this is my all-time favorite TNG (Picard) Episode
This is a wonderful and powerful episode, moving and complex. At odd moments, to this day, I still hear the flute melody that closes the show ...
i love the flute solo... its so beautiful...
Yes, that song is very amazing. It is a wonderful melody.
I love the episode, one of TNG's bests.
I've got that theme song on my iPod and play it all the time.
I taught myself to play a version of it on harmonica.
This is also one of my favorite episodes. I can play the song on my soprano recorder (baroque wind instrument) and it sounds pretty good. I also have it on my iPod and I tend to listen to it when things at work get my ticked off -- it helps me to get centered.
speaking of inner light, does anybody know where the Ressikan Flute now presides?
