Title: Tales From The Mouse House
Post by: QuadShot on July 06, 2010, 12:47:03 PM
Hey all, Joyce and I just got back from a weekend trip to Disneyland, with my daughter Amanda (her first visit - she's 19), and it was really cool! The new World of Color show in California Adventure is AMAZING. The highlight of the trip!  I filmed it and will post the video soon. Our next episode of Tales From The Mouse House will cover our trip.  Later!! Al

Do you guys ever get over to Disney World? I used to go there a lot as a kid living on the East Coast.

Bryan, nah I've never been to Disney World but my wife has. In fact, it wasn't until 2007 that I made my first trip ever to Disneyland!

Here's the latest video podcast from Tales From The Mouse House on Disney's new World Of Color.  It's kind of big (about 27 minutes) so if you watch from this link: http://web.me.com/alkessel/Site_3/Podcast/Podcast.html (http://web.me.com/alkessel/Site_3/Podcast/Podcast.html)
it may take a moment or two to load.  It's also available in iTunes, just search for Tales From The Mouse House.  Thanks all, let me know what you think!  Al

Listened to all the shows so far and love them. Really makes me want to go to Disney. Well done both it's a great show.

Here's my review in iTunes UK

I've never been to Disney but have always wanted to go, let's face it there's no point being a adult if you can't be a child sometimes. This podcast offers information, trivia, secrets and history of the Disney attractions. It's delivered in a fun, relaxed way and I strongly recommend it.

I've been to Disney World many times since my childhood and have loved it every time. Now that my brother lives in Orlando I have a lot of chances to get down there (he basically lives 'behind' the Magic Kingdom). I've never been to Disney Land but I imagine it's just as fun (albeit smaller).

I always love hearing interesting things about these parks, I'll definitely be adding your show to my queue.

Thanks Billybob! Never been to Disney World myself but my wife has. I think it would be cool to go at least once, but I think I'll always be partial to Disneyland because it is smaller and cozier. Take care, Al

Ok, question for you seasoned podcast pros....is it better to read from a script, ad-lib, or maybe a combination of both? I've been struggling with our show because it's tough for me to remember everything I want to cover unless I script it, pretty much word for word. I've noticed that when I do, it sounds very...stiff, for lack of a better word.  I've tried to just bullet point what I want to cover, but then I become kind of lost. How do you all do it? Rico, you shows sound so natural and usually flows really well. Thanks for any input! Al

I just have an outline so I don't forget the main things I want to talk about, I find it flows best when we just talk and hit the points.

It's not really my place to answer but in the two TrekSF shows I've done I found I needed a little more than bullets but a little less than a script.

I tended to write out full sentences to ensure I got the detail down that I wanted but then paraphrased them as I was talking.

If you like, I had a very stilted script that I then ignored and used for reference purposes only.

The downside is that it then took me a few takes to actually cover everything and sound natural so I'm not sure it was the best way to handle it. (But then I'm not a natural communicator like Rick or Rico)

Well if you listen to my show Knights of the Guild it's far from scripted. And yes I forget things all the time or when I'm in the middle of editing it I think to myself.. crap I should have said this or oh yeah I forgot to tell them this. That's just how things go.

I have an outline of the entire show. That's really so I don't miss any segments since our show is so long we split it into two parts and we mix up when segments are in which parts all the time. I think if you have a co-host it should be more unscripted, folks normally like the banter between the two co-hosts and if it's scripted that really limits the flow of the conversation.  I don't know if any of this really helped.. I would do what feels right to you. Believe me it get's better and better as time goes on.

It does Kenny.  In fact, last night Joyce (my lovely wife and co-host) recorded episode 4 of our show last night, and tried a little more relaxed style, with just notes.  It went a little more, shall we say, conversationally, and I think a little more fun.  I still struggled a bit with remembering what I want to say, but I managed through it! I'll get the episode uploaded tonight...thanks for everyone's help! And, wow, how long does it take to get listeners! :) I know...only 3 shows out there...patience young Jedi (ok, OLD Jedi). :)

That's the tough part.. I mean with Knights of the Guild I already had an audience with The Guild, but it's a struggle everyday to promote and get the word out there that there is an official podcast for The Guild.

You need to go to Disney forums and spread the word. It's going to take a lot of leg work on your part to get noticed amongst all those other podcasts.. it's a neverending job.

For the scripted vs. unscripted, I think it really depends on you. I think everyone needs at least a set of bullet points. Based on my experience doing presentations, running meetings and what little podcasting experience I have, I tend to work better unscripted. I look at a point and then just start talking, sometimes this will lead you to ramble on a little but with time you can catch yourself.

When you have another person to work off of then it becomes much easier to be unscripted as it turns into a more natural discussion instead of a dissertation. I think if you won't be satisfied unless you come out saying things a specific way then you should script. The only danger is that you start going into 'reading voice' which becomes a bit monotone and dull.

Finally! Episode 4 of Tales From The Mouse House is UP! :) It took me a bit longer to edit and get uploaded than I wanted, life kind of got in the way, but it's finally in iTunes.  It's an enhanced show (most of ours are), but if you want a standard version, we have one posted on our podbean site at  www.talesfromthemousehouse.podbean.com (http://www.talesfromthemousehouse.podbean.com).  This episode is a bit different than our first shows, we went off script! We did the "host chat" style and we really enjoyed it. One issue I need to figure out though, my voice is...well...I'm rather loud naturally. Didn't realize that until we started to record these shows. And Joyce is soft-spoken. So we bought two mics (mine is a Yeti and Joyce's is the Snowball), and I've been trying to get my audio level right.  In this episode, there are a few areas where my audio is distorted a bit...hmm. Any ideas?
So, here are the show notes from episode 4! Thanks and let me know what you think...please....pretty please??? :)  :
On episode 4 of Tales From The Mouse House, we discuss a LOT! We confirmed a couple of rumors that we mentioned on a previous show, including an errie spider web and a Hidden Mickey, a special visit with a terrific Disneyland Castmember, the closing of a beloved Pin Trading Shop in DCA and World Of Color. Plus, an update on the fist Tales From The Mouse House Disney Trivia Contest...
In our Hidden Treasure segment, we discuss the landscaping at the Disneyland Resort and the mystery behind the Disneyland Resort's address...hmmm. Joyce reviews one of her favorite rides, Space Mountain, and I attempt to be as funny as the Jungle Cruise skippers in my review of Adventureland's Jungle Cruise. We also compare the PCH Grill and Goofy's Kitchen in our Food Review and I get personal in our Tips -N- Tricks.
Stay turned for future video podcasts, which will include a two-part Aladdin show, a Point Of View show highlighting California Screamin' and Splash Mountain and a walking tour of the Disneyland Resort.
Be sure to check out our Tales From The Mouse House Photo site (located in the list on the left). If you have any comments or suggestions for us, please, drop us a line at talespodcast@cox.net, and be sure to leave us feedback on iTunes! Enjoy the show!! ~~ Al & Joyce

Welcome to Episode 6 of Tales From The Mouse House! This will always be remembered by Joyce and I as the episode that almost wasn't! We discuss a surprising "yard sculpture" that landed in our side yard that made for an interesting wake up call! We introduce a new segment on Tales From The Mouse House that we call "Magical Memories". In this new segment, we'll highlight those special moments that exemplifies the Disney Spirit of Magic. Anything that gives that heart warming feeling. I share my first Magical Memory and invite you all to share your Magical Memories with us. We'll even highlight them on our show! In our Hidden Treasures segment, I fill you in on where you can find a bit of Autopia Automotive Memorabilia, catch a glimpse of some movie props used in the films Raiders of The Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Joyce fills you in on a Monorail Hidden Treasure! Our Ride Review segment has been "altered" a bit so Joyce and I can discuss Disney's California Adventure Attraction - Aladdin: Musical Spectacular, and get you geared up for our August 29th Video Podcast, Part One of the Aladdin Musical! We're also part of the "digital" age now! You can follow us on Twitter at talespodcast, be our friend on FaceBook at facebook.com/talespodcast. Remember, if you have suggestions for shows you'd like to hear, or see, want to share a Magical Memory, send us a comment or just say hi, you can email us at talespodcast@cox.net. You can also visit us on Pod Bean at www.talesfromthemousehouse.podbean.com (http://www.talesfromthemousehouse.podbean.com). So...Joyce and I were honored with a Skype chat with Rico on Tuesday! He graciously agreed to chat with us about his Disneyland experiences and we had a blast! This was our first Skype chat for our show, and I think it went very well.  Thankfully, Rico is a pro at this so that made it much easier. Oh, and Rico, Joyce said to tell you it was nice to finally "meet" you after me talking about you for the last (almost) 5 years! :) We'll have our chat with Rico on Tales From The Mouse House the first week in September, so tune it!! :)

Pretty sure I saw the Indy truck (and ride) at Disneyland Paris. It was the first time I had been to a Disney park since the late 70s or early 80s .... had been looking forward to the Pirates ride but it was closed :( being updated to movie pirates or something.

It was all so different then I remembered it - esp missed Tomorrowland.

Well beer, visiting Disneyland Paris was your mistake! :) You need to visit the original Disneyland park, in Anaheim, CA! :) The Indy truck and the mine car in Anaheim are original movie props, donated by George Lucas (he as a pretty good affiliation with Disneyland).  Al

Enjoyed the new episode, and actually remember the Pirates restaurant you talked about, tho that was like 26 years ago or so. I assume it's the same one :) Also ate at the Tikki Room with the talking birds - but I think that's gone now.

Beer, that's cool! Yep, the restaurant in the Pirates attraction has been there since the 1960's, so I'm sure it's the same one. The Tikki Room is still there, however it's no longer a restaurant, just a musical attraction. It's actually pretty neat. We always make sure we make that show. I think I have some video of it, and will post it for you if you'd like! Thanks for listening, it really means a lot to us...Al

Ok Gang, so I'm thinking of doing a "special unscheduled" episode of Tales From The Mouse House. Now, if you're not familiar, the Disneyland Resort plays all sorts of music throughout the place, kind of like a soundtrack. This music is played on the rides, piped in through the streets, etc. I (of course) have a CD full of this music and was thinking of recording an episode of mainly just the music. Do some intro stuff, like the name of the song, what ride or area it's played in, etc. What do you all think? Something you'd be interested in hearing? Of course, this will be a "bonus" episode, won't take the place of our regular audio episode...Al

Only thing I'd worry about when it comes to replaying full songs is copyright. Not sure how crazy Disney is about that stuff.

Hmm, interesting question billybob. I'd have thought under fair use it would be ok.  I'll need to check into this a bit more. Since I'm not p2p sharing, or selling my podcast, is this a violation?

Not sure but it would be replaying it for public consumption so not sure. I know there were changes to fair use recently. I mean it's probably nothing to worry about but I thought I'd bring it up.

You know I would love to hear that but if you are going to play a lot of songs then i would play only clips of the songs. I always play a song on every podcast, normally a theme tune but i would not play like the soundtrack. I'm also of the opinion that if you are 'bigging' the content you are talking about eh Disney then they would be fine because its positive advertisement. If you are slagging it off then they may take action. As Joe said look at Lucas they are mad for keeping an eye on things but they dont go after podcasters or even audio dramas (as long as you dont charge) beceause its spreading the word.

Anyway Al, whatever you put on Mouse House i'm listening.

Just throwing this out there as it's what I think of when I do my podcast.. if you use licensed material and like other have said you're showing it in a good light and your not making any money off of it then most companies are cool with that...

But I like to think long term and one day would love to actually make money off my podcast, either with sponsors or advertising. Once you cross that line and start making money then issues arise with licensed material. Meaning you would need to remove all the podcasts that have licensed material in it to avoid any issues. So for me I tend to avoid using license material all together.. again just my 2 cents.

That's a point I hadn't really considered. As obscure as the possibility may be, you're right, I too would like to think someday we could get a sponsor or two. This is a show I most likely will put up in a few months, so that gives me some time to contact Disney and see what they think. Plus, if they say "yes", then I can promote Tales as a "Disney approved podcast"! :) ;)

Welcome one and all to Episode 8 of Tales From The Mouse House! It's a little late, but, well, the events surrounding this episode were a bit odd! Right off the top, we want to apologize because this episode is not our usual format - we kind of flew here and there because we had so much to tell you about our recent visit to the Disneyland Resort, and the D23 Destination D event! One word: AMAZING. AND...our good friend Simon Meddings sent in an audio comment (very kind words!) that we gave top honor to: right at the beginning of the show!!

In Episode 8, Joyce and I discuss the unusual trip and visit to our Happiest Place On Earth, an unexpected visit to a chiropractor; a record breaking heat wave and dragon flies made for a...unique visit! We also give you an overview of the D23 event and some updates on Star Tours 2.0 and the highly anticipated ElecTronica event launching at Disney's California Adventure this month.

So, if this episode seems a little, well, distracted (we both kind of talk about EVERYTHING), that's because we had a LOT to cover.  This 35,000 foot overview of our most recent trip gives you the basics, we'll delve deeper into things on subsequent shows.

We'll have some special video podcasts up soon, covering the D23 Event, the Walking Tour Show Joyce and I recorded, more ride videos AND....the Happiest Haunts Tour video! YEAH!!

Comments? Ideas for future shows? Want to share a Magical Moment? Want a shiny new Tales From The Mouse House PERSONALIZED attraction button (you KNOW you do)? Send us an email to talespodcast@cox.net, or post on our Twitter or FaceBook pages @talespodcast. You can also leave comments on our Podbean site at talesfromthemousehouse.podbean.com, or leave feedback for us on iTunes (PLEASE!!!). ~~ Al & Joyce

Welcome to Tales From The Mouse House Minnie MouseCast 1! Since there is SOOOO much Disneyland Resort News to be had, and some of it can be time sensitive, Joyce and I have decided that it's best to have these Minnie episodes every once in awhile! You know, for the stuff that just can't wait for a full Tales From The Mouse House episode!

We'll include some cool interviews (Rico part two in this episode!)  and other Disney audio clips that we think are just WAYYY too important to wait for our full-length show, AND...may even throw in a contest from time to time (hint...there's one in this episode!) You can pick it up at talesfromthemousehouse.podbean.com, or from iTunes!

As always, if you have a comment or suggestion for a show, please drop us a line at talespodcast@cox.net, or leave a comment on FaceBook or Twitter @talespodcast, leave a comment on our PodBean site at www.talesfromthemousehouse.podbean.com (http://www.talesfromthemousehouse.podbean.com), or...leave us feedback on iTunes!

It's FINALLY HERE! The Tales From The Mouse House Halloween Spooktacular! And...our 10th podcastiversary! WOW!! 10 shows. Seem just like a little over 9 shows ago we started this podcast :)  In this special episode, Waffle On's very on Simon "Meds" Meddings shows off his eerie talents by recording a spooky Halloween poem Joyce and I wrote, AND, he sent us an audio comment about his very own nightmare story!
We launch 3 new contests in honor of Halloween and our 10th show. Lots of great prizes including a wonderfully donated copy of Rick Moyer's Stargazer CD! This prize goes to our grand prize winner for sure! (Luckily, I already own a copy, or this would have NEVER made it to the prize table!)

So, sit back, relax and enjoy Tales From The Mouse House, Halloween Spooktacular! You'll regret it if you don't!!  :ohbaby

So...will have the 3rd episode of our Minnie MouseCast up tonight. Expected to have it done by now, but ran into some problems. iLife 11 is cool...but buggy. Apple assures me these issues will be addressed in an upcoming patch...I hope! Anyway, in episode 3, Joyce and I introduce a new addition (as opposed to an old addition) to the Tales From The Mouse House family - DisneylandCrazy Sarah! She's "on loan" to us from the DAPS Magic blog and she'll be doing an ongoing segment all about Disneyland (of course). Sarah will be joining us in our Nov 14th Tales From The Mouse House episode! Joyce and I also discussed our recent Halloween episode and our 3 trivia contest winners! Hope you can "tune in" to Minnie MouseCast #3!! Al

Oh...and we now have VOICEMAIL! In fact, we play one of our listeners voicemail comments.

Speaking of our new Tales From The Mouse House Hotline, you can reach it at (304) TALES23 (cool number, huh?!) Feel free to call up and leave us your comments, suggestions or even if you just want to say HEY! How's it going?

Sooo, question for y'all. Joyce and I've gotten a little carried away with Tales From The Mouse House...we now have 4 variations of the podcast that we release and I'm thinking, maybe too much? We have:
Tales From The Mouse House - the full length audio show
Tales From The Mouse House Video - for our longer video shows
Minnie MouseCasts - for those shorter shows when we have something
we want to share that can't wait for the full show, and special audio clips
Mickey MouseCasts - like the Minnie MouseCasts only with short videos

What do you think? Too much? How could be streamline? Just a thought...

Well I love the Tales podcast LOL, You have to be carefull you dont have too many different shows, here you have 4. If you wanted to just cut down a bit then do away with the mini video cast as you can easily put that in ypur video cast. Are you finding that you are doing several Mini Mouse casts? if so why dont you do two Tales full shows a month?

Just a thought, either way I'd be happy with a weekly show, just keep them coming :D
Title: Re: Tales From The Mouse House

How many of audio/video casts are you doing a week? Is there a set schedule?

As for having to many sub casts, it can get confusing but I think you need to do what feels right.. I mean KOTG has four different casts "RegularCasts" "MicroCasts" "MiniCasts" and "CompanionCasts"  But RegularCasts are our monthly casts, we rarely do mini's and micros are special non-regular casts. While Companioncasts only happen when a season of The Guild is airing. So everyone is different and refers to a specific type of Knights of the Guild.

I like the idea of having your "regular" casts as Tales From The Mouse House, and video casts as Tales From The Mouse House Video. And maybe use Mini MouseCasts for your short version shows both audio and video. But like I said.. go with what feels right.

Hi Kenny, Well, the "extra" shows started out as once in a while, special occasion shows. If we had something we didnt' want to wait to tell until the full show, we'd record a "Minnie" cast. Then, we started the "special edition" video casts, and they got more frequent! Although doing a podcast is a LOT of work (espcially when Apple puts out a new GarageBand full of bugs), it's quite fun and addicting! But, I think you and Meds are right though. They are starting to get confusing to us so I can't imagine how confusing these  are to our listeners. I think we're going to "re-tool" the shows a bit. Maybe like Kenny and Meds said, streamline a bit. We'll combine the Minnie and Mickey casts into one. Thanks guys for your input!

Thanks blackride, good advice and I'll pay you a full dollar for it, not just 2 cents! :) Sometimes I get carried away and forget to keep it simple. I'm so glad you enjoy the show. We have so much fun doing it and it helps us "stay connected" with Disneyland. Anytime you want to come on the show and talk about, whatever, feel free! In fact, if you wanted to send in an audio comment and talk about the PC Awards, that'd be great too! We are going to be talking about it anyway...telling our listeners to vote for Knights.
Take care brother! Al

Holy crap! I step away for a bit and look what happened!! You guys crack me up! Anyway....
After MUCH cursing and frustration (with the new GarageBand), Minnie MouseCast 5 is FINALLY up in iTunes! Yeah! In this episode, Joyce and I discuss one of our favorite podcasts being nominated for a Peoples Choice Award in Podcasting -- Knights Of The Guild! We urge ALL Tales listeners to rush out and vote for Kenny and Jenny! Awesome show.

We also chat about our upcoming trip to the Disneyland Resort, and are big news, we're upgrading our website to a REAL host - DreamHost! Time to get some more functionality and "stuff"! We also play a recent Skype "Chaterview" we had with a couple of great guys from the web blog Days In The Park. We'd really love it if y'all could stop on over and check out Tales From The Mouse House - Minnie MouseCast 5!! Later ~~~ Al

A special episode of Tales From The Mouse House is up. Why special you ask? Great question!! It's shorter! :) Joyce and I've finally decided to upgrade our web hosting to a real web host (DreamHost.com - thanks SOOOO much Rico). So, while I'm building the new look and migrating the iTunes feed, we thought we'd treat you to a couple of the Disneyland Resort songs I talk so much about. The new site: talescast.com, should be up and fully running within a few days. Thanks all!  ~~~ Al & Joyce

Well...after much frustration (which actually led to many learning opportunities!), our new website is FUNCTIONAL! All the Tales From The Mouse House Podcast episodes now live on the new site, AND...you can listen to/view them right there! Unlike on Podbean (good site, just too limited storage), we have LOTS of storage so now we can upload our video podcasts as well, all for your podcast enjoyment! So..please, visit us at talescast.com and let us know what you think. Oh, and thanks to Rico for the great deal on DreamHost, and advice on how to get our iTunes feed forwarded. So far, looks like everything is working fine. Later...Al

Major problems...:( Seems that when I created the new website (talescast.com), and attempted to forward the old podcast feed (did the whole line of code in the old feed thing), I failed to include the actual feed from the new site (according to an Apples forum reply). So, not quite sure how to include a feed code for a new site, when the feed isn't actually there yet, but I'm no expert. From what the forum said, I have two choices, neither of which sound fun. The first is to trash the first feed thus removing the entire podcast, Tales From The Mouse House from iTunes, losing all our listeners, subscribers, feedback, etc. Then rebuilding a new podcast with a slightly different name (because Apple iTunes will get confused and reject it if I don't), then start from scratch. The second is to attempt to contact someone from iTunes support (hopefully not someone from India with a script that doesn't know how to even LISTEN to a podcast) and have them help me redirect the existing feed to the new website. Argh. I truly hope I haven't hosed this. Any ideas gang??? Al

Oh man I'm so sorry to hear that.. I wouldn't go with #1, do everything you can to keep everything in place. I'd go with #2 and hope the person at itunes could help you. Did you shut down your podbean site.. could you just re-activate that, at least for the time being until you can fix all this?
Title: Re: Tales From The Mouse House

Hi Kenny, no I still have podbean but the feed actually came from another iWeb site. I'm not sure why I can't just correct the current rss code. I just left out the feed from the site (just put talescast.com) in the old rss code. Logically, I should be able to just alter that line to include the podcast rss feed, wouldn't you think? I'm going to try that tonight and if that doesn't work l'll try the iTunes help. Man, this year is ending much like it started---crappy!! :)
Title: Re: Tales From The Mouse House
Post by: QuadShot on December 14, 2010, 07:47:05 PM
Well gang, horrible news so far. I've tried EVERYTHING I can think of, but nothing works. From what I gather, I messed up. iTunes of course didn't answer my original question about how to redirect a podcast feed from iWeb, so they referred me to their forums. A very helpful guy wrote very descriptive instructions, however, made the mad assumption that I knew how to write code. He neglected to insert the part where you don't just add your websites URL, but the feed part of it as well. So...now iTunes is in a destructive loop when it comes to my podcast. Since I directed it at a website and not a podcast feed, it's stuck and can't see anything. I tried to insert the redirect code into the new site, but doesn't do a dang thing because iTunes isn't looking at the rss.xml. It's looking somewhere at the actual website. So...I've sent a plea for help to the iTunes folks and am hoping for a productive fix that does not include dumping the old feed and starting all over again, losing all the listeners we've worked VERY hard to get thus far. Makes me very upset to think that a stupid mistake on my part, and a seemingly small one, can completely disrupt the flow. You'd think that a company like Apple could help, or at least be willing to help and fix it. In fact, the gentleman who helped me originally told me that I have only two options: hose it all and start from scratch or contact iTunes. He said that 99% of the time they won't help, and will direct you to the message forums. But...there is that 1% of the time when you get someone who CAN and WILL help you move your feed. My question is, if that 1% can do it, why don't they ALL? It's obviously possible to do from their side of the fence so WHY THE HELL not do it for all customers? Anyway, sorry for the mess up for anyone who listens to Tales From The Mouse House. Kenny, you can subscribe for now, and listen to all the shows up to current at www.talescast.com (http://www.talescast.com).  This is the new site and I've uploaded all the old shows there. Thanks...Al

Hey Gang, Ok, it's official. We had to resubmit our podcast feed to iTunes for approval, now we're just waiting on them to get Tales From The Mouse House Podcast in the Store. That's the good news. The bad news is that since all of you who subscribe through iTunes are subscribed to the old feed, you'll need to delete that out of your iTunes library and search for Tales From The Mouse House Podcast (add podcast) and resubscribe. All the old episodes will be there once you do. Oh, and until then, you can visit our NEW website at www.talescast.com (http://www.talescast.com). You can listen to all the audio shows and watch all the video shows right there! That's WHY we made this incredibly complicated and mishap laden journey to move to a larger web host! So, Joyce and I should be recording our Christmas episode this week, and posting it on www.talescast.com (http://www.talescast.com) for you to enjoy! Once iTunes has updated us, we'll let you know.

Remember, if you have questions or comments, feel free to contact us at talespodcast@cox.net or leave us a voicemail on the "HOTLINE" at 304.TALES23. Thank you all so much for being such loyal friends...~~~Al & Joyce

You know what I've learned from all this?:  I am asking all podcasters what to do before I actually do a podcast.  Geez, sounds like 1 messup, 1 wrong RSS website and your goose is cooked.  X_X.

Anyway, great to hear its fixing up now!  :)

King, actually, it's all about paying attention to detail. Learn everything you need to do before you actually do it. Then as you're doing it...pay close attention to what you're doing. As I've said before, I'm not exactly a computer programmer. So...I messed up. I did figure out a fix for my mess, but of course, I wasn't careful when I recoded and set myself into an unrecoverable issue. Oh well!

All the episodes are there, so Kenny, go ahead and get caught up my friend! :) Joyce and I will be recording our Christmas episode tomorrow, and posting it just in time for Christmas! Thanks everyone for being patient. And oh, can we ask a favor? Since we had to resubmit a new feed, we're going to lose all of our subscribers. Can you help get the word out about the new feed? We appriciate it! Merry Christmas To All....Al

In this episode, Joyce and I get back to our "normal" format and discuss our upcoming projects, read a terrific email from a terrific listener, let you in on a true Grizzly legend and the ONLY place to find a four leaf clover at the Disneyland Resort in our Hidden Treasures, review a couple of fun attractions and introduce a brand new segment called Mouse Reel.  You'll meet our good friend Simon "Meds" Meddings from "NOT LONDON", who helps us kick off this fun new segment.

In Tips From The Mouse House, I let you know where you can help steer a steamboat, while Joyce vents about her recent experience on said steamboat!

So, I decided to check the downloads of Tales From The Mouse House since we switched to DreamHost.com. Now, we started our podcast in May of 2010, but in Dec. of 2010 switched over to DreamHost. So...since Dec. 2010 we've hit 113,021 downloads! I know that may not seem like a lot but for us, we're pretty jazzed!! :)

Dan, that's what I like about DreamHost. It's a great ego booster! Just when I think no one's listening and thinking, maybe it's time to call it a day, I see the numbers! :)

You guys see this bit of news?
http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/disney_world_srich_kid_outrage_zTBA0xrvZRkIVc1zItXGDP (http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/disney_world_srich_kid_outrage_zTBA0xrvZRkIVc1zItXGDP)

They are 1 percenters who are 100 percent despicable.

Some wealthy Manhattan moms have figured out a way to cut the long lines at Disney World — by hiring disabled people to pose as family members so they and their kids can jump to the front, The Post has learned.

REUTERS
Rich moms shamelessly hire disabled tour guides so their kids can cut long lines.
The "black-market Disney guides" run $130 an hour, or $1,040 for an eight-hour day.

"My daughter waited one minute to get on 'It's a Small World' — the other kids had to wait 2 1/2 hours," crowed one mom, who hired a disabled guide through Dream Tours Florida.

Dr. Wednesday Martin, social anthropologist who discovered scheme.
"You can't go to Disney without a tour concierge,'' she sniffed. "This is how the 1 percent does Disney."

The woman said she hired a Dream Tours guide to escort her, her husband and their 1-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter through the park in a motorized scooter with a "handicapped" sign on it. The group was sent straight to an auxiliary entrance at the front of each attraction.

Disney allows each guest who needs a wheelchair or motorized scooter to bring up to six guests to a "more convenient entrance."

The Florida entertainment mecca warns that there "may be a waiting period before boarding." But the consensus among upper-crust moms who have used the illicit handicap tactic is that the trick is well worth the cost.

Not only is their "black-market tour guide" more efficient than Disney World's VIP Tours, it's cheaper, too.

Disney Tours offers a VIP guide and fast passes for $310 to $380 per hour.

Passing around the rogue guide service's phone number recently became a shameless ritual among Manhattan's private-school set during spring break. The service asks who referred you before they even take your call.

"It's insider knowledge that very few have and share carefully," said social anthropologist Dr. Wednesday Martin, who caught wind of the underground network while doing research for her upcoming book "Primates of Park Avenue."

"Who wants a speed pass when you can use your black-market handicapped guide to circumvent the lines all together?" she said.

"So when you're doing it, you're affirming that you are one of the privileged insiders who has and shares this information."

Ryan Clement runs Dream Tours Florida with girlfriend Jacie Christiano, whom the rich Manhattan mom indicated was her family's guide.

A working phone number for Christiano couldn't be found, and Clement refused to put The Post through to her. A message left on Facebook was not immediately returned by Christiano.

Clement denied that his gal pal uses her disability to bypass lines. He said she has an auto-immune disorder and acknowledged that she uses a scooter on the job.

Disney did not return repeated requests for comment.
