This was, what the industry calls a "Sizzle Reel". It was made for Warner Bros to sell them on the idea of a new Mortal Kombat movie.. (be on the look out for a well known Voyager actress)

Warner Premiere Announces Mortal Kombat Digital Series
Source: Warner Premiere
January 24, 2011
Warner Premiere today announced development of a live-action digital series based on the best-selling "Mortal Kombat" videogame franchise. Directed by Kevin Tancharoen, known for his popular unofficial fan short Mortal Kombat: Rebirth (watch below!) which garnered over 10 million views online, and in conjunction with the upcoming Mortal Kombat videogame, this action-packed, digital series will take gamers deep into the history of warriors they know and love such as Scorpion, Johnny Cage and Liu Kang. Shooting for the digital series will take place in Vancouver starting in early February.
"Mortal Kombat" is one of the most celebrated videogame franchises of all time. Since its debut in 1992, it has spawned four arcade games, 10 console-based videogame titles, two movies (Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation), two televisions series ("Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm" and "Mortal Kombat: Conquest") and an animated prequel Mortal Kombat: The Journey Begins. Additionally, a new Mortal Kombat game will be coming out April 19, 2011 on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
Available this spring through online digital retailers from Warner Bros. Digital Distribution, the "Mortal Kombat" digital series is an anthology of multiple live action shorts, each providing never-before-revealed insights into characters featured in the upcoming videogame as well as the game's universe. Additional details, including casting, will be announced in the coming weeks.
The latest iteration of the award-winning videogame, Mortal Kombat marks a triumphant return to the series' mature presentation and a reinvention of its classic 2D fighting mechanic. Driven by an all new graphics engine, the fan favorite Fatality is back and presented in more gory detail than ever before. In addition, Mortal Kombat introduces a number of new game-play features including tag team and a deep story mode. Mortal Kombat is being developed by NetherRealm Studios, led by "Mortal Kombat" creator and creative director Ed Boon.

And FYI.... Jeri Ryan is in talks to reprise her role as Sonya.
Flawless victory....:)

Giving new meaning to the term "Babality"
(obscure, I know, does anyone remember you could turn your victim into babies in MK 2?)
Director Kevin Tancharoen has tweeted more photos from the Vancouver set of the "Mortal Kombat" digital series.

I saw this clip the other day. It doesn't seem very Mortal Kombat to me.
The first Episode is out:
Mortal Kombat: Legacy - Ep. 1 (Brand new live action MK series!) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6s6UiEuCYXA#ws)
It's pretty good. Not great, but it's watchable. WB did put some cash into it.
The demo of the new game is available on PSN and Xbox live. Four playable characters: Sub Zero, Scorpion, Cage, and Mileena, gives you a feel for the combat, moves, fatalities in the final game. Based on the demo, the new game seems like a pretty simple retread of "been there, done that" content. What is this, like the 13th or 14th MK game, including the side scrolling beat em ups and adventure games? How many times are they going to dip into this well before Konsumers say: "Finish It" already?

If it sells....it sells...sad truth about the gaming industry, but we have a lot of suckers that will buy the same thing or pointless thing over and over and over again. Map packs in FPS games are like gold-pressed latinum to Activision because so many people buy those worthless DLC packs.
If people are buying these games, Developers have no choice but to make them, even if they are retreads. Its free $$ to them.
King
Obviously in the close combat fight scene neither of them knew Muay Thai, but oh well. Wasn't bad.
I really enjoyed this.. looking forward to seeing where the series goes.
Glad they got Jeri Ryan again for the real series. :)
Episode 2
Mortal Kombat: Legacy - Ep. 2 - Jax, Sonya and Kano (Part 2) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTSEa--Alkw#ws)
Wow, it looks like a prequel to the games.
Episode 3
Mortal Kombat: Legacy - Ep. 3 - Johnny Cage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqlaU5OMsks#ws)
The martial arts, a lot of Taekwondo, maybe a little Capoeira and Muay Thai styles were actually pretty good. Though I don't know what all the dirty fighting was about. Also cool to see Erica Cerra from Eureka.
I like the real world TV show references.
People are having mixed reactions to this episode... what do you guys think?
Mortal Kombat: Legacy - Ep. 4 - Kitana & Mileena (Part 1) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIFbGNqs0JQ#ws)
Loved the story. Didn't like the animation. The constant switching from animated to live action throws the viewer off. This is a live action series, don't use cartoons. Use CGI if needed, don't use drawn animation. At least (if done right) CGI can look like it's real.

Ep 6 is pretty awesome.. and 7 & 8 are EPIC!!!

Think you need to fix your links Kenny. Make sure it actually spells out the word Youtube in the link.

I took a screenshot to show you. This is what they were previously posted as:
Yep.. I'm aware of that.. those are the links I got from You Tube.
I tried four times with various URL from you tube to get them to embed and they never did so I just left them the way you saw them. After you told me to fix them I went back and grabbed a different version of the URL and they worked.
That's a bit odd. Obviously those are not real Youtube links. Did you go there from another site? Looks like a link misdirect to me. One double check I use is the Youtube logo in the video itself. Even if someone has tried to use a misdirect, the embedded link in the video is usually ok. That's how I saw the real links.
Finally had a chance to watch some of this. It's pretty cool. Only watched the first two episodes so far but the fights and effects are top notch. I'll be watching the rest very soon.
