Check it out.. coming to ABC this fall... looks like a live action Incredibles
No Ordinary Family - ABC Network (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mDukZLfuz0#)
This looks good! "No Capes!!"
That looks really fun. Like the cast a lot too. I'll be watching.
Larry's wife from 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'!
Love Julie Benz... she played Darla on Buffy and then Angel.
Hey Guys.. the pilot for this new series is up online.. it's limited to 50,000 views only... so catch it while you can.

I'm about halfway through it and loving it so far.
Starts regular airings tonight (9/28/10).
Looking forward to this series.. I heard they made some major changes from the pilot that they released last month.
I enjoyed the first episode tonight. Pretty good mix of family stuff and super powers. And some interesting twists too. I'll keep watching.
I enjoyed it too...but a bit nervous its going to be another heroes. Great cast.
Both Harry and I enjoyed it.. they only cut out one scene in the middle and added the scene at the end.. everything else was the same as the pilot that they previewed last month.
It's a keeper! Definitely gonna keep it scheduled on the DVR. I like the interactions in the family. I am interested why the Dad got hurt by the gunshot. Is he vulnerable in that spot or do his abilities degrad as he uses them or becomes tired....
I'm guessing that the bullet at the back of the head thing was just to make him not completely invulnerable. I think that was probably a good idea. I also liked how the family isn't perfect and they have issues. Seemed a lot more real that way. Thought it was a nice change that it's the mom who is the big success and makes the bucks. Definitely will keep watching this one. Thank god it's not on FOX!
verdict is still out on this one. I watched but need another couple to see if it's going to be good. I did like the realness of the family, but texting in the jungles of Brazil? I bet that was a huge roaming fee.
I'm like Rick, the whole texting this was a bit unrealistic, I mean cmon, we know the iPhone 4 has issues in your house, how does it get signals in Brazil? ;) ;)
It felt forced and the interaction wasn't as smooth. But there is a good amount of hope for it, as long as it doesn't go the Heroes way. I'm waiting a couple more episodes before I give my verdict.

What are people thinking about this show now? I'm all caught up on the episodes through the new one last night. I think it's steadily getting better. Still a few things need some tweaking, but it's an interesting show. I like the cast a lot, so that helps. I'll keep watching.
Only seen the pilot so far but I really think it has potential. Good characters, actors and I like the level of comedy in it too.
I've really been enjoying this show. The plot is steadily building and it's nice to see a decent family portrayed on TV - even with superpowers. If you haven't been watching, just check it out via www.hulu.com (http://www.hulu.com). Well worth the time and what other superhero family takes the time to go out bowling for night?! :)
The wife and I have both enjoyed this show. We normally watch this live and DVR V. I really like the lab assisant and all her quotes about superheroes and Sci-Fi. I loved on the one show when she told her boyfriend "You are about to go where no man has gone before." That was GREAT! I laughed so hard I had to pause the show! ABC needs to let this continue.
Just watched the reboot of Star Trek and realized that the son in this show plays the young Kirk when he's driving the car.
I quit watching this show a couple weeks ago. Got tired of the superbrain being a super-idiot and the characters simply weren't likable enough. Could have had potential, but I got tired of it trying to catch up to that potential. Same problem I had with The Event, except no one was likable in that show.

I'm liking this still quite a bit. Nice, family vibe to it. I like the cast and characters too. Want to see where it goes. I like the recent "Lair" upgrade too!
Really enjoyed this weeks show. I like the new baddie also. Reminds me of Odo of course. I also like the upgraded lair.
Checked the show after seeing some reviews, the concept seemed interesting.
There isn't really something new and the story is simple, so it stands and falls with it's characters.
The actors aren't bad and I like the family. Unfortunately I can't really get emotionally invested in them, they don't really have much depth and their arc is weak, it's even worse with returning characters that aren't family members. The experiences they make one week seem are mostly forgotten next week.
(Lost three months worth of memories? Not a problem, we hit the magic reset button, doesn't matter if you don't have personal memories and learn a lot about your family members, move on, nothing interesting to see here! A shape shifter that could be anybody? No reason to be suspicious of anyone you meet now, that would be just ridiculous! Your colleague cop/attorney got shot or your teacher had an accident? Oh, it's alright if you don't care more than one episode, I won't either. You're killing people for your boss? Don't worry, just go to him and tell him you won't be working for him any longer, no reason to be afraid. Your boyfriend slept with your best friend behind your back? It's not like you'd meet them every day in school, just don't mention it anymore and everything will be fine, mkay?)
Feels outdated and underdeveloped, so much wasted potential and mediocrity.

I think you nailed why I dislike this show so much. Its mediocre and the episodes are self contained.
I've heard some speculation that the belief is this show was made for kids. Whether that is true or not is up for debate, but generally, it seems like geeks aren't loving this show much. Whoever they are targeting, it is not us.

Bad news from TV Guide. Headline "Will Their Bubbles Burst?" In article about ABC. "The dramas likely to face extinction are No Ordinary Family, V, and Detroit 1-8-7." Hello, ABC!! Your Tuesday shows are up against the NCIS shows. Which I don't care for by the way. So your not going to have great ratings on Tuesday. Whatever you put there will not have good ratings so just keep the shows you have!!! I'm sorry if I was yelling.
Tim - the episodes are not self-contained. There is an on going story arc. I'm guessing you are not watching the series, because if you did you would know this. I'm fine with people not caring for the show and not watching it anymore. But, some of us are still watching it and enjoying it. If we lose this series, and V, and The Cape, I'm afraid getting new genre based TV will be in trouble people.

I watched seven episodes of No Ordinary Family. The overall arc was fairly weak and the episodes seemed more self contained. At least, that's the only reason Mr. Intelligent seems Mr. Dim. =\

Most episodic TV has "self-contained" episodes, with perhaps some kind of arc and character development going too. Wouldn't you say Trek was mainly self-contained? Again, I'm fine with you not caring for the show. If it doesn't appeal to you, I'm not quite sure why you watched seven episodes. But I just find your comments about story arc and how the episodes were self-contained as not quite making sense.
Agreed Rico. I stopped watching the show. I don't know where, but it just fell off of my list of things to see. From the things they showed, it did have a storyline going, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.
I think one of the bad sides of geekdom is beating up on things that don't appeal to them. Maybe it's because we spent years trying to justify and defend why we are watching something to the masses that we have a habit, as a community, on trying to justify why we don't like things when it has never needed to be justified in either case.
Case in point. I liked Knight Rider. Couldn't tell you why or what I liked about it, but I was entertained.
I always enjoyed Knight Rider as well. Both old and new. The newer show also never got a chance.

I watched seven episodes in hopes it would appeal to me. I may quit doing this method too. I did it with this show and The Event and neither show was watched after this seven episode "personal arc". It seems if I like a show, its within 2, maybe 3 episodes. Not after 7. Something I'll have to keep in mind.
Star Trek self contained yes. Actually, I seem to be losing my point in this thread so let me sum up my problems:
1. Characters do not learn. (See the intelligent kid)
2. Characters aren't likable, which isn't always the fault of the show I'll admit.
3. Superpowers don't seem to have a place in the show. Unlike Pixar's superhero family movie, the superpowers in this show seem to have a secondary status and really could be removed from the show and you'd have almost the same show.
4. The overall story just wasn't hitting off with me, switching from serious to funny to dramatic to silly to...well, it was all over.
And...I just can't explain it beyond that. I dislike the show, enough said and I'll quit posting my dislike of the show here ;).
@Will, they gave Knight Rider plenty of chances to get on its feet. More than most good shows ever got.

Tim, I certainly respect your own views of the show even if I disagree with the points you list above. For me the characters are quite likable. Also, every episode has involved their powers directly. Many have even dealt with super powered baddies too. But again, you gave it a shot and didn't care for it. That's cool. I just feel differently.
No Ordinary Family would have been a very good show - if this were the 1980s.
Just compare it to The Cape and you know what I mean.
I don't think it's fair to compare it to Trek, the shows that did well were progressive for their time.
I also dont think it's fair to call any criticism "beating it up", there are geeks (like me) who do enjoy analysing and comparing stuff and arguing their points. (That's incidetially also an important part of being a scientist, funny, isn't it?)
I've kept watching this show and I'm glad. It has really picked up the pace in the last few episodes with a clearly defined story arc.
Fingers crossed it isn't cancelled.
I agree Dan. The most recent episode was very cool with the shape-shifter girl. I also like the daughter's new "Force-like" ability. "These aren't the droids you're looking for." :)
I have not seen the last two episodes but I will catch these as soon as possible. This weeks is on DVR last weeks I need to find on the internet.
Only need to watch last weeks show to be caught up. The week before that was very good!
I really enjoyed the "force" thing. I didnt know what you meant in an earlier post. And the part when the mom was in her lab talking to Katie. And the mom said "tell me the truth like I'm using Wonder Woman's rope." And Katie corrected her, "Technically its a lasso." That was awesome! lol
Yeah. Katie's awesome on the show! Maybe my favorite character.
Finally caught up on this, but I haven't seen when its coming back. Please finish the season and have some kind of closure if its getting cancelled.
I really enjoyed this weeks episode. I will miss this if it gets canned.
I really liked the part when When they were asking Katie questions about the guy that attacked her I loved it when she said his eyes were Hulk like :hulk and his hair was like Tony Stark :ironman during his Demon in the Bottle days. lol That was great!!
Check your listings. Here in Michigan it seems we are getting another episode tonight (Saturday) for some reason.
Yep Julie Benz tweeted there are 2 episodes left, one being tonight.

Got last night's episode on my TIVO. Looks like a real good one too. Really enjoying the last few episodes quite a bit. Things are getting very interesting on this show.
That last picture is her confirming that she is really Julie Benz on Twitter.. I think it's kind of cool that this is how celebrities are verified on Twitter.
Yeah! And I am already following her! Let see if she has anything interesting to share with the world.
Another good one on Sat. Only one left. Maybe forever. :thumbsdown April 5 is the finale. I should remember that since its my birthday.
I just watched the Saturday time travel story. Really good episode. The preview for the finale looks really good too. My fingers are still crossed for this show to come back. I think it has a shot still.

Don't the two main stars of the cast already have new jobs on CBS?

They have pilot options.. but if NOF gets picked up they have to drop out of those pilots.
Just saw "No Ordinary Family" tonight and it was really good! I liked where they took the story and now more than ever, I want this show to continue!

I agree Rick. They put a TON in the last episode and it really set the stage for next season which should be a lot different based on what happened in the final minutes of this season finale. Really hope it comes back too.
Now thats how you should finish a season! It ties this one up neatly and promises so much more original stuff for next......they'd be fools to not commision another......and TV's exec's seem to know what they're doing, right?
.....Oh yeah.......Firefly.
I really hope they get the green light for another. More so now after watching the finale than ever!
Yep, exactly. This show really grew over the season and turned into something cool and special. Fingers crossed for season two!
Loved the finale!!! I really want this to come back.
When those agents came in at the end and told them they need their help. Awesome!
Just finished watching this series. Another one of those that slipped past the radar while it was airing. It should be considered a crime against television if this show doesn't come back for more seasons. I really want to know what power(s) George got.
CANCELED!!! :(
Network swine!
Kinda figured with the Cape axed that this show was next...

:(
This is one I haven't seen...and probably won't now (still I'd have said that about Firefly a few years ago and been wring so we'll see.)
KENNY, I DON'T LIKE YOUR CANCELLED POST! I LIKED THIS ONE TOO.

Sorry Kenny not yelling. Forgot I had the caps lock on. I actually appreciate what you guys post on here about the news you find.
