Title: GM pays off govm't loan
Post by: Rico on April 24, 2010, 07:28:07 AM
GM pays back government loan....  (good for them)

Dear Rick,

We value and appreciate your loyalty more than anything. We are proud to announce we have repaid our government loan – in full, with interest, five years ahead of the original schedule. We realize we still have more to do. Our goal is to exceed every expectation you've set for us. We're designing, building and selling the best cars and trucks in the world. Like the award-winning Chevy Malibu, the all-new Buick LaCrosse, the versatile Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon and the innovative GMC Terrain, just to name a few. As we move into the future, we're thankful to have loyal owners like you. We invite you to learn more about the new GM and join our community, by visiting gm.com. And once again, thank you for your support.

Vice President, U.S. Marketing

I am in the market for a new car soon - I wish they would get a hybrid on the showroom floor.  The Volt looks promising - but may be too much $$ (or ££, €€).  I have a Prius that is getting rather long in the tooth - and in 3 more payments mine all mine!  I want something as fuel efficient, and with the bells & whistles.  I would prefer to buy American if I can, but they have to have something that I want.
At any rate, I am proud of GM for pulling themselves up like this.

I wish GM would bring back Pontiac. I though the new 2009 Solstice was a nice looking car.

Right, I used to have a 1990 Grand Am that I loved!  Great brand.

I currently own a Pontiac Fiero and my dad has a Firebird. We're a Pontiac sorta family, so it made me sad to see it get closed down.

Glad to see other GM fans - and especially Pontiac lovers here.  I was also very sad about Pontiac.  I mean, look what I drive!   :wub

I guess it's got a few miles on it now though. Rockford and back won't be doing it any good I think.

Just got a second Vauxhall here (The UK GM owned brand).

I meant to ask - which one did you get?

Actually it's still looking pretty much that good.  Very solid car.  And I take good care of her.   ;)

Oooh a GTP...those were supercharged weren't they?

My first car was a '94 Pontiac Sunbird.

Yep, it was supercharged.  Very quick acceleration.

They have been playing commercials up here in Canada with the CEO telling how proud they are of paying off the loan. So good luck to GM in the future. My first 3 vehicles were Chevrolet's: Z28, S-10 and a Cavalier. Strangely the Cavalier was my favorite, but that may have been that I bought that one brand new.
