Title: Podcasting networks
Post by: billybob476 on April 19, 2010, 10:07:30 AM
Hi all you podcaster types out there. Just wondering about something.

Recently I've been following the growth of Scott Johnson's FrogPants podcast network, in the past little while it seems as though he's been adding shows on a weekly basis (including such mainstays as Coverville).

I was wondering, what's the advantage of being part of a podcast network? I can see the plusses to being a member of the bug guys (Like TWIT or Revision3) as you'd have access to their resources. I know Kenny and Jen are members of smaller networks, what are the advantages?

Love to get your opinions/thoughts.

I think for the most part it would be a good thing.  That is, if they still let you do your own thing.  I'll have to look over my Mevio contract, but I don't think that keeps me from joining other podcast networks.  Maybe I'll shoot Scotty an email and join him on Frogpants.

That was actually the reason I initially thought of it. You'd fit in well over there.

I think the main reason for joining a podcast network is to get more exposure for your podcast.  One thing I don't like about some of these networks is that they require exclusivity. Which I am not a fan of and for that reason did not join Farpoint Media (a rather large and well know Network) when asked.

Well, its understandable when they do that.  Not likable but understandable.

In my brief podcasting....3 months I was looking at podcasting networks and it is more or less a way to get exposure and help from fellow...members? They play your promos, you play theirs, they help you, you help them. There was one network which I think Jawbone was with that actually had a special promotion where one person from each podcast switched with another, I actually listened to their other's casts
