Corgi on Board to Produce STAR TREK 40th ANNIVERSARY COLLECTIBLES For American Market
Line Will Include Replicas from the Original Series and Star Trek: The Next Generation(TM)
CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 21, 2006--Corgi International Limited, the leading name in die-cast scale models, has added another license to their already impressive portfolio, by signing a new deal with CBS Consumer Products to produce a range of commemorative products for the American market to celebrate Star Trek's 40th anniversary in 2006.
The series launches with highly detailed replicas of the U.S.S. Enterprise® NCC-1701 and the Klingon Bird-of-Prey. Both spacecraft have become synonymous with the Star Trek global phenomenon, with the Enterprise having been featured in the very first episode screened in 1966. Suggested retail prices are: U.S.S. Enterprise $30, Klingon Bird-of-Prey $26.
Joining these products will be the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D, from the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation. Set nearly a century after Star Trek, the show featured a new starship (also named Enterprise) and a new crew. Star Trek: The Next Generation was the highest rated of all the Star Trek series, and was the number one syndicated show for much of its original run from 1987 to 1994. Suggested retail price is $40.
Each model will be offered in two editions: a completed, fully decorated version and a limited edition "Sights & Sounds" unpainted model that features dramatic lighting and audio effects. Suggested "Sights & Sounds" retail prices are: U.S.S. Enterprise® NCC-1701 $62; Klingon Bird-of-Prey $50 ; U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D $72.
So I wonder which Enterprise would be better to pick up...this Corgi version or the Art Asylum one. I'd like to see some pics or more descriptions about what the "sights and sounds" model does. I went to Corgi's website, but didn't see much. I just found one pic. I don't really like the stand for it. This was a UK site. Are there American sites that anyone's aware of that sell this stuff?
Lots of good TREK stuff coming out this year and early next for the big 40th anniversary! Two good Net places to keep an eye on for Trek stuff are: New Force: http://www.newforcecomics.com/ and Entertainment Earth: http://www.entertainmentearth.com/ There are others, but those are two big ones I watch.
I stumbled upon these vehicles at EntertainmentEarth.com a couple of weeks ago, and have been thinking about getting them. Between watching First Contact again, and seeing Picards ship replicas, and Rico's recent pictures of the MR Enterprise, I have been pushed me over the edge -- I must have some replica of the various Enterprise incarnations.
Does anyone have these vehicles? Are they nicely detailed and accurate (considering their price)? Are they worth the price? It looks like I can probably pick them up for about $10 cheaper on ebay, but is it worth it?
Also, is there any news on other ships (the E, Romulan Warbird, DS9)?
Thanks.
So, does no one have these?
no I thought about picking them up but never did....
Since it would seem that nobody has these, I bought one. Despite preferring the D (a little) to the original, I got the original for a better price.
I'll put pictures up, and a review, when it gets here, though it looks from the Corgi pictures from Toy Fair that it will totally be worth the money.
I hope the put out an E at some point, as it is the best design.
I saw these at Toy Fair. I ordered a case of each for my store. I will post pictures when I receive them. :)
Did they have anything other than the 1701, 1701-D, and Klingon ship?
I recieved the original Enterprise a week or so ago, and was very pleased with it, so much so that I went and bought the D on eBay a couple of days ago. I wasn't planning on getting the Klingon vessel soon, but might if your prices are good; I'm primarily interested in the various Enterprise incarnations at the moment.
Post some pics gang.... I didn't know these new ships were actually out yet.
The only pics I have available to me at the moment are on Entertainment Earth.

My D should be here sometime this week, I'll get pics of both when it does. I really hope they do more of them - the A, the E, Romulan Warbird, the Scimitar, etc.

I'll have some great prices on these. :)
I want one of each! Post here or over at the RPF when you get them in :).
As soon as I get them in I'll let you know.
I expect to get these this week. I will post better pics soon.
I saw the Enterprise D at a local HobbyTown, it's very nicely detailed and painted. Let me know and prices.
I saw the Original Enterprise well on Holiday, looked very nice, though the price they wanted at the store was to high. Will be interested to see more pictures.
I have the both enterprises on layaway at a local store they are a total of 70 with out tax the D is 40 and the TOS is 30 I am also trying to get them to get the diffiant & voyager from one of there other stories.
diffiant & voyager ? I didn't see those, or I would have ordered them too..
It showed them on the back of the box as well as the klingon bird of prey and the romulan warbird I think.
Here is a link on the Corgi stuff it does not show the difiant or voyager but talks about them
http://www.scifi.com/sfw/cool/sfw14260.html
FedEx just dropped them off, pics shorlty...
The Voyager, Defiant and Warbird havn't been released yet, as far as I know. I've only seen pics of the 2 Enterprises, and the Klingon vessel, and they're really cool. Gotta pick up the Bird of Prey sometime.

The Voyager and the others are not till 2008 per Corgi. I have to say these are even better in hand. If anyone wants one, I am not going to post them on my site till tonight, but PM me and I'll get you one. I am offering the Klingon bird of prey and TOS Enterprise for $30 shipped and TNG Enterprise $40 shipped in the US. International will be slightly more.
Very 'purty' those are. Might have to get them.

I was very impressed with the quality of these small ships. I am keeping one of each for myself. Trust me for the money you can not go wrong on this. ;)
The two enterprises are definitely worth it. I paid a little less on ebay, but I also searched for a while as most prices were slightly higher. I was initially disappointed that the saucer on the D is plastic, while the original is all metal, but I quickly realized that with the design of the ship it'd be very front-heavy if it was metal.
I'll be picking up the Bird of Prey very soon.
Yeah I think I might have to pick up the Enterprise D ship. How big is Enterprise D ??
8-9 inches long, I think. Bigger than the SW Ultra Titaniums, if you're familiar with those.

Me too, can't resist the Bird of Prey, especially after seeing the Search for Spock last week.
