Well guys this Saturday I'll be heading to Sun Peaks Ski Resort an hour outside of Kamloops, British Columbia with my wife and father in law. I'm incredibly excited to ski a real mountain (not the little hills we have here in Ontario).
I'll have my iPhone so I'll likely be online a little bit in the evenings and I'll try to tweet some photos from the slopes!
Here's the site for the resort: http://www.sunpeaksresort.com/ (http://www.sunpeaksresort.com/)
and the live webcams: http://www.sunpeaksresort.com/weather/cams.aspx (http://www.sunpeaksresort.com/weather/cams.aspx)
You are going to have so much fun! I can't wait to see the pics! Stay safe. :)
Be safe and watch out for trees - and others. ;)
I've gotten pretty good at avoiding traffic :)
I actually didn't realize how quick the rev up time is if you put your mind to it. I've been out for 6 or 7 ski days this season and taken 5 hours of private lessons. I'm skiing intermediate runs with confidence and plan on doing a bunch of group lessons when I'm out there. This is a ton of fun (but as my father said when I told him I was taking up skiing "It's an expensive game").
Isn't that wahat father's say about most things? ;)
lol, perhaps but he was right about this one! Regardless of that I'm having a blast with it.
That looks like a really fine resort Billybob! I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself. I love skiing but have been in years now. I sure do miss it though. Unfortunately my wife doesn't ski and has no interest in even learning. *sigh*

Yeah, my wife started skiing when she was 4 but hadn't done it in 10 years. My interest kind of sparked her back into it. One thing that really appeals to the geek in me is the gear. The technology in this stuff is amazing.
Have they gotten much snow? I have been reading that the Vancouver area is sweating out the fact that they have no snow yet for the games.
EDIT - never mind! I looked at the live cams in your link!
Enjoy the trip Joe, maybe you will impress and they will want you to go represent Canada at Whistler ;)
Hehe maybe, enough members of our ski team are down injured!
Actually I'll be in your neighbourhood for an hour or so, I'm connecting through Calgary to get to Kamloops.
Woohoo! Picked up my skis from the shop last night (got them waxed and sharpened) and just checked in for my flight tomorrow morning.
so tell us about your latest trip!! Any pictures?
Sharpened? Is that in case you run into any bears ;)
Well it was an awesome week, some pics here:

What an experience, the mountians sure are beautiful.
That really looks like a great place to go skiing Joe and it looks like you had a great time to boot! Thanks for sharing the pics!
Kevin
The best part was that it was never really that crowded. Most of the time you had the entire run to yourself so you could really let loose if you wanted to.
Looks just like what I'm watching on TV at the moment.
If you're watching Olympics, I was only about a 4 hour drive from Whistler so the terrain would be similar, Sun Peaks is a little bit smaller, the peak is only 2080 meters above sea level.
Looks beautiful there Joe. Seems like a great place. But I think I would have enjoyed the beer and stuff more than the skiing part. ;)
Your pictures were just great! I watched the Canadian couple take the gold last night on the Olympics, man they were amazing!
