Show #58 up folks. It's a very special show for all the father's out there. Hope you all like it. ;D
Good show on a very good DS9 episode. If I had money, I to would own the Samaritan replica. There is an origin story on the Samaritan in the "Hellboy" DVD . Hellboy named the Gun the "Samaritan" because it puts monsters out of its misery. There is also a Hellboy toon in the works http://hellboyanimated.typepad.com/ (http://hellboyanimated.typepad.com/)
Thanks for the info Batmite. Very interesting stuff on Hellboy. I really liked that movie a lot. I also remember hearing about the animated series too. Hope to see that soon.
Hi Rico,
I'm not finished with your last podcast yet, but I wanted to drop a quick line to say I've read Wicked. Its WIERD, but I loved it. I'd love to see the musical... I'm a huge Wizard of OZ fan too and that book gives you an interesting prospective on The Wicked Witch. In fact, Its sort of like the Rise of Darth Vader...You get inside the head of the villain and almost feel sorry for them.
Sounds like a good read Jen. I really liked how they intertwined all the classic "OZ" elements into the story. The music was really fantastic too! I'll check the book out. You should definitely see the play sometime - when it's in your area!
Great podcast as always and very appropriate for Father's Day.
I remember seeing this one when it was on and you are very correct....an excellent episode that is very emotional and tough to watch.
Heck just listening to the sound bites from the episode choked me up with the feelings they invoke both as a father and a son myself.
Outstanding episode Rico
Dido. t was a very moving episode...and podcast. I'm sorry about your dad Rico.
Thanks folks. It was a long time ago about my father. But obviously this DS9 episode meant a bit more to me than maybe some.
Hey Rico.. another awesome podcast on another awesome Star Trek show.
I have a question about this episode. How did a Jake that isn't even supposed to exist, tell a story about how he killed himself? That confused me. Anyone have any answers? But great podcast, and great episode.
He was really telling a story about that - after the fact. We were seeing what had happened to him to get to that point.
Is still don't really understand. Do you mean that his story built up right to where he was, and then he continued from there, kinda like Forest Gump?
That is always the way I saw it
Ok, if that's the case, I understand. Thanks Rico and Darth.
Just reached this podcast in the series and am very grateful to see this episode covered.
While it's different from the majority of the DS9 run, this episode is on my 'all time' list and still has quite an impact when I watch it...or even listen to it apparently.
(I last saw it at the end of last year so it's pretty fresh.)
Woah... I started reading this and thought: "Did something happen to the Treksf feed? The Father's Day episode was Voyager's "Unforgettable". Then I checked the date and saw that the post was started last year. :D
I agree Feathers, it's one of the BEST DS9 episodes. ;)
Yeah, sorry it's so close to Fathers Day this year! Just co-incidence that I reached this 'cast now I guess.
