Title: Getting Hulu outside the US?
Post by: alanp on January 19, 2010, 03:06:48 PM
I saw this on Tekzilla, has anyone had any luck with this?  How well does this work?

I don't know if it would work Alan but why not just give it a try? It looks easy to do!

I set up a separate browser and gave it a uk address and watched some exclusive stuff from there.

So, yes this works pretty damned good. I don't know many sites other than sky and bbc that I want to visit, but I just watched the news on sky.

I just tried it.  What are you getting on sky and bbc that is blocked in the US?

Edit:

Oh, I found one.  I'm watching Dr. Who on the BBC site, which is blocked in the US.  This is cool!

I use a program called hotspot shield which works great and allows me to watch hulu without a problem and i live in Canada. the program is free and easy to use, all you have to do is install it and press the icon and it sets up an anonymous ip address for you

I had a quick try at getting onto Hulu but whatever option I picked at the time didn't work and I got a 'You seem to be using an anonymous IP address' warning. I didn't try for too long though, it was midnight at the time.

They really need to make it work officially sometime.  I vote for Worldwide TV!

I got that at the beginning, try rebooting your computer, then seting up hotspot shield before going on the site, it should work then

I've used hotspot shield in the past and it's worked. Personally I think that's the easiest solution. Initially I thought it was a bit shady but it's been recommended by PC Magazine and CNET so I figure it's safe.
