I think I've convinced Lynn's mom to finally stop using dialup. She's probably going to go for AT&T DSL, since it's only like $20 a month. Anyone use them? I've not had DSL - can you still use the phone line when you are online? Any suggestions on modem's/routers? I found a DLink one on Newegg.com that seems ok. Anyway, DSL experts - chime in.

Yeah, you can still use your phone, they just have to install filters on them to keep the noise out. DSL has become far cheaper than a dedicated dialup line these days.
As for modems and routers, they should provide it to her when she starts the service.

It seems they charge extra for the modem (when I went to the AT&T site), but I'm seeing some other AT&T deals online and maybe I can get one for free. Not sure yet.
Yeah they may charge 5 bucks a moth modem rental or some such.
My Mom has Verizon DSL at her house - and they are constantly leaning on her to pay a few $'s more and go with FIOS. But for her, DSL is adequate.
