Wow!

I just went through and read this article. Very profound, moving and very sad that he had to go through that. I know my own upbringing was very difficult but I was one of the lucky ones that had people intervene when I was 8. This helped me immensely and I'm still connected with my birth family along with very caring friends, foster parents and social workers who have become more like family over the years.

Patrick Stewart is quite the actor and quite a humanitarian to help support the cause against domestic violence.  :)

Yes indeed - a very sobering article.  I am glad you had someone to intervene for you.

I heard Sir Patrick talk about his father on other shows.  Interesting to read how he channels his emotions in later life to aid in his acting.

Excellent article and thanks for sharing Pete. I know he said when he had that little bust up with James Cordon on stage (they have since made up and have done a sketch together) that he had been in a bad place so i think he is referring to that moment in the article.

That was painful to watch. The lads on teh ForceCast had a parody song sent in about that incident that was bloddy hysterical.

Is there a youtube link? Sounds funny!

Yeah I'm glad I was "rescued." I work with students who have special needs so it's kind of like giving back what was given to me. I definitely believe in karma. Good things come back to you when you do good things.

So it seems that it is true...the best actors are the ones with the deeper scars....idk how you survive such a life.  Brave of him to talk about that in such a public way.

I think the only way I was able to get through was because I had really wonderful people come into my life and school was the best place for me to be. I always felt safer at school than anywhere. When I was at Keene and heard about Columbine, I felt so sad because school was always a safe place for me and to hear about schools being unsafe scares me. I think that's one of the big reasons I became an educator because I want to help provided an environment of safety for children who may not have a safe environment at home.
