I'd never heard of the Cosmos series until they did an arc on Galactic Watercooler podcast(GWC). I started watching little bits on youtube but now I'm getting the DVD's from our local library. I'd imagine most of you guys know about this stellar show! It's a little bit dated now cause it was filmed in the late 70's I think.
Carl Sagan walks you through the history of basically everything! It's kinda hard to sum up the series because it covers so much. It hard to wrap you head around some of the theories and facts, really puts you in your place.
He lays out a timeline from the "big bang" to the present in a calendar year. All of human history takes place in the last 10 seconds of that year!!! He covers everything from the smallest cell to the universe.
There is a great little music video somebody did called "A Glorious Dawn" thats on youtube and is also on the main page of galacticwatercooler.com. I'm not sure how to embed it here?
I'd highly recommend it for anyone from 9 to 99.

I watched and adored COSMOS when it first aired and read the book more times than I can count. I also enjoyed GWC's podcast arc covering this amazing book, tv show, and the man.
