I wasn't going to start a ScutterCast thread here until I'd been around a bit longer. However, there has been a bit of talk about it already, and I have news about the latest episode that some of you maybe interested in....
ScutterCast 19. Episode 1 of series IV Red Dwarf- Camille. Should be released Thursday 5th of September.
We have been contacted by Warner Brothers On-Line and asked to promote the US release of Back To Earth DVD. They have sent us 2 copies of the Blu-Ray version to give away (which I believe is region free) Basically, first 2 e-mails we recieve of correct competition answers win. You'll have to listen for the questions! ;)
We have also been contacted by SFX magazine who are holding a massive sci-fi convention on Feb 5th and 6th 2010 at Butlins- Camber Sands (South coast near Hastings. UK.). They also want us to promote that and are offering a 50% discount for the first 10 people to get in touch via ScutterCast. A 30% discount for the next 10 people and a 25% discount for everyone after that. It's an expensive weekend but promises to be a good convention with John Barrowman, James Marsters, Gareth David-Lloyd, Elisabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane) and not forgetting Mac McDonald (Captain Hollister in Red Dwarf), you can get written into a comic book, see exclusive movie previews and be part of the SFX awards show. Again, details in the podcast.... :D
Aswell as these, you get the usual episode review, the Red Dwarf chat and the general chinwag at the end of the episode. Download and listen early if you're interested in getting the discount to SFX or want to win the DVD's

http://scuttercastmp3.podbean.com/ (http://scuttercastmp3.podbean.com/)
I won't be posting details of every episode we release, but if there is any big news about Dwarf or any further promotions or competitions.
Oh post details of all of them - everyone else does for their shows! ;)
(Actually, I am serious. Enough of us listen that it would be helpful.)
If you've got WB getting in contact you must be hitting the big time. Congrats!
We were gob-smacked. Brittainy from Warner Brothers Online offered to send us a few copies of Back To Earth. As this posed a problem with DVD regions they offered the BluRay which I believe is region free...We got 2 copies, but have to provide proof that we've held a competition. Maybe they're struggling to shift them!
The SFX convention one is quite big aswell. From what I gather, 2 people sharing a room will cost £300. Larger the group, the cheaper it becomes. Minimum of 25% discount makes this one interesting....especially the first 10 who get 50% discount
Well, I've just finished the last episode so I'll keep RSS Player looking for a new one.
When does Treks in Sci-Fi (or SyFy ;) ) get a podcast of the week vote?
Honestly, I've got quite a list...but it will be soon. Rico has sent me the trailer already......
I bumped Waffle On up the list as I hadn't thrown in a TV show. Mine all seem to have been Trek, general geekery and audiodrama's. And no Star wars yet! Can't believe it! :D
ScutterCast Episode 20-Red Dwarf Series 4 Episode 2- D.N.A. is now out.
BTW In this case, D.N.A. actually stands for Do Not Alter. Not a lot of people know that!
We also announce the one winner we had for episode 19's competition to win a BluRay DVD of the Back To Earth easter special. This means that we are still waiting for a second person to claim the last BluRay.... Check out episode 19 for competition details (though the wise would do better to check out the shownotes for episode 19 ;) )

Oh, and before I forget. Feathers, you'll probably be happy with this fortnights "Podcast Of The Week"....it really should be "Podcast Of The Next 2 Weeks" shouldn't it?
Podcast of the fortnight perhaps? I look forward to hearing it when I get there.
Downloaded and ready to go for the morning. Thanks.
Thanks again for the nice comments on Take Him With You. Your cast is fun!
How do you do with the accents Rick?
They've just got a new one out which I'm halfway through. I had all these questions about the episode they're covering but I find they seem to be asking the same ones as they go through the 'cast. It's like having my own personal team of researchers!
Well, I've just had some news about the next episode of ScutterCast. I can't give it away, but people who listened to the earlier episodes should be happy.....
....and if anyone struggled with any of our accents before, prepare to struggle more than ever!! :)
Glad you like what I said Rick. I just try to be as honest as I can be to our listeners in my podcast recommendations. Hopefully, some will check out my recommendations
Oooo I've listened to every episode so looking forward to a new scuttercast. :)
New episode is now up. Episode 24- Meltdown which concludes series IV of Red Dwarf.

That would be me then :D Oh, you don't mean Glaswegian?
ScutterCast 30 is now out. This week it is just myself and Darren covering the undisputed fans favourite and Red Dwarf Series 5 finale, Back To Reality. The episode that was the inspiration behind the 2009 Easter specials and also brought us one of the most popular alter-ego characters, Dwayne Dibley!! Dwayne went on to make future appearances in one form or another....and even has his own iPod Touch/ iPhone App.....enjoy! :D
Download the Enhanced version here (http://scuttercast.podbean.com/)

Awesome, everyone loves Dwayne. Can't wait to hear this episode, saying that I always enjoy the scuttercast.
ScutterCast - A tellytubby Podcast
It has a nice ring but I suspect you'd be better off sticking to the day job! ;) (Hands up how many people here actually know what the tellytubbies are? :D )
I saw them in an episode of The Simpsons once so assumed everyone did.... :)
For those that don't...here's an image. I think Waffle On is using this for thier Teletubby's special!! :D
(http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:VoQiyKTM18sGSM:http://www.meldrum.co.uk/mhp/testcard/bbc_test/testcard_t.jpg)
Lol the day I do a teletubbies episode is the day Waffle On gets signed up to the BBC arts station for intellectual debate and pondering.
Vic Reeves special however ;)
Whats on the end of the stick, Vic? :)
BTW, 2 new series of RD filming in January....I posted about it in the TV section. Unofficially announced by Craig Charles on the BBC whilst covering for Janice Long :D
After a few weeks off, ScutterCast is now back. Episode 34 Emohawk: Polymorph 2 episode review went live last night. An episode that saw the return of Dwayne Dibbley, Ace Rimmer and the infamous Polymorph!!!....We also discuss the latest news from the world of Dwarf and some of my holiday tales. Harry Potter Universal theme park ride and Disney Hollywood Studios Star wars weekend......
as usual, we have both the Enhanced (http://scuttercast.podbean.com/) and the MP3 (http://scuttercastmp3.podbean.com/) versions. Enjoy....

I meant ts say this earlier but there was some good coverage of The Martians Are Here on the Scuttercast a couple of episodes ago including some very nice words about the various guest authors. (I wonder who they were? :innocent)
Thanks guys :D
The 57th episode of the ScutterCast (Episode 55....don't ask!!) is now available to download. This is the review for the 3rd and final part of the Back To Earth 2009 Easter specials
It seemed like a huge task back when we started over 2 years ago, but we've finally made it!! We started with the intention of reviewing all 52 aired episodes of Red Dwarf. This grew to 55 after the Back To Earth three parter....and we've finished!!
We've had some low points along the way. The scathing criticism we received back when we first started....although, in fairness, that was probably justified. The first 10 or so episodes are dreadful!!
We've had some high points. The airing of the Easter specials and the recent confirmation of another series for Autumn 2012 are the two that spring to mind.
We've gone through a few changes in the hosts....mostly people dropping out....one who disappeared entirely for a year, returned again for one week and then just vanished again. But we finally made it!!
We even managed to give 55 quality podcast recommendations along the way!!
The plan now is to have a bit of time off. We will return to review the new series in the autumn of 2012. And we have a couple of shows lined up to be recorded and released sometime inbetween. This will include a review of each of the four novels and also a review of the Red Dwarf USA unaired pilot episode.....maybe the odd Red Dwarf news flash if any big announcements are made.....but, for the time being, ScutterCast has pretty much run it's course.
For those who have listened, thank you for putting up with our shit. I know we got better as we went on.....I can only apologise for the first few!!
For those who haven't listened. Go out and watch Red Dwarf. You will love it....and then maybe give us a listen. If you start at episode 1, please bear in mind we improve :)
We still want to hear any feedback people may have. email scuttercast@reddwarfforum.com
We are also still appealing for reviews on iTunes and Podbean and anywhere else that reviews podcasts.
The enhanced version can be found at THIS LINK (http://scuttercast.podbean.com/). This is the iPod version which is split into chapters and has accompanying screen shots to highlight whatever it is we are currently speaking about.
The MP3 version can be found at THIS LINK (http://scuttercastmp3.podbean.com/). This is the audio only version for non-iPod MP3 players.....erm....you don't get the pictures with this one.
It's been fun and, please, keep subscribed.

Seems weird not having any research to do.....I'm now without podcast :(
I've still got most of the latest to listen too but I've really quite enjoyed these - the personal chat on the end as much as the episode reviews.
I don't really remember the first ones bur perhaps I'd better not listen again just in case I feel suddenly let down ;)
Congrats, it was quite a big commitment to take on but your done it!
tbh, it's been a hell of a lot more work than we imagined it would be...but fun too!
The original idea was "watch the episode and then just chat about it". Thats why the series 1 reviews fail so much. Shame because series 1 and 2 are still my favourites. We got a hell of a lot of criticism and from series 2 onwards, I took it upon myself to actually research as best I can. It probably took the best part of series 2 and maybe into series 3 to pin point the best sites for the best info. Add to that the DVD extra's....Much more work than anticipated.
Darren was the same with the editing. At some early point, he decided to try and get them edited down to about an hour for each episode.....I know that alone took a hell of a lot of work.
I have plans for another podcast sometime in the future....but it will not be requiring research....nor will it have a regular release date. Weekly proved to be too much for us....and if we missed our fortnightly release date, some people went berzerk!! And the next podcast will not be family friendly. I'm not planning to swear for the sake of swearing. But I do use adult language in everyday life and sometimes, I've struggled to fully express myself on Scuttercast and keep it family friendly :)
I'd say ScutterCast has taught us a lot. In the meantime, I have been involving myself slightly with a comedy section for the Verbal Release Podcast which should, hopefully, end up on their show soon.....It is however strictly toilet humour and not for the faint hearted!
Got to the end although a bit stop/start in my listening and all I cam say is... your disgusting work colleague almost trumps the wetsuit story but not quite ;)
It would be funnier if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes! I nearly didn't tell it...I struggle with the words to explain something as unbelievably....terrible as that! In this day and age!! Like I say though, it's good for the recycling tonnage recovery rates!! :)
Urgh...
(If you haven't listened, don't ask. You need to hear it for yourself.)
After nearly 9 months off, we have returned. Having completed reviews for every single broadcast episode of Red Dwarf, there was only one place we could go. Yes, thats right. The unaired Red Dwarf USA Pilot.
Technically not available for the public, the pilot found its way to be leaked onto the web. And so we braved the biggest flop to come from the world of Red Dwarf....bigger even than the failings of Series VII or VIII. We weren't sure we would be able to record a full episode. After all, it never aired and there didn't appear to be much information out there. But, after much digging, we managed to cobble together an episode that doubled the length of our usual format. Yes....2 HOURS of Red Dwarf USA
You don't really have to have seen this episode to enjoy the podcast. And I'm even going to pat myself on the back for the depth of research that went into this. Enjoy :)
THIS CLICKY FOR THE ENHANCED WITH IMAGES VERSION (http://scuttercast.podbean.com/2012/01/20/scuttercast-us-pilot/) Which I believe only runs on Quicktime or iPods
And THIS CLICKY FOR THE STANDARD MP3 VERSION (http://scuttercast.podbean.com/2012/01/20/scuttercast-us-pilot/)
The plan now is to do four more podcasts to cover the novels before the new RDX Series airs in the Autumn
You'll have to let me know what you think of this one. I am quite proud of this and the work that went into it. Really pleased with how it turned out
Aweseom downloading for my Monday listen :D
Okay....so we took another 6 months off. But we are back....again....
This episode looks in detail at the first of the four Red Dwarf novels, 'Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers'. And we did over 2 hours again.
However, we have now dropped Podbean. The iTunes feed is still active. But the new feed is hosted over at www.reddwarfforum.com (http://www.reddwarfforum.com)
Hope you enjoy
Found the new feed courtesy of the little 3 minute show on the end of the old one. That was well worth doing!
Haven't listened yet but should get to it on the train tomorrow.
Glad to hear it. I think it was probably the best way to do it.
