This is in amazing CG trailer for this upcoming game from Bioware. Very cool and just a warning, quite a bit of violence in the trailer.

Gameplay
Yepper, can't wait for this game. I was a big fan of Baldur's Gate back in the day, the PC traditional roleplaying game as well as the Diablo like console games on the PS2. This game is supposedly the "spiritual successor" of that series, and therefore I can't WAIT.

Dad you'll like this.
That's great! This looks like a blast to play.
Wow - this looks amazing! I better be careful - could be like opium!
The gameplay video above looks awesome! I'm really excited for this game now.
This games looks absolutely amazing. Do anyone know if it's single player only or will there be some type of multi player aspect to the game.

I think both options will be available.
Anyone play this yet? I am deep into my second playthrough, and have sunk about 50 hours into this game so far. It is absolutely awesome. The story is so engrossing and fun. There's more detail in the journal/codex part of your inventory than in many commercial fantasy novels. This is a fully realized world and your actions and decisions play a major part in how it develops and continues. By far my favorite game of the year. This is not for the faint of heart, however. It takes a committment and alot of time. Don't let this scare you off, because the game rewards you in so many ways. It's the kind of game that has you thinking and obsessing about it even when you aren't playing. The most insidious part is that there are six different "origins" or character types you can play as that all have completely different stories in the game and it really impacts how the game world shapes up around you. I could totally see myself playing this game for 100 hours or more, just to see all the stories and possible endings.

Uggh - I am feeling the Siren call...but this is just what scares me off - I will get caught up in it.. Get Thee Behind Me Satan! :)
It's the opposite for me, this is what appeals to me about the game. If you love something, why wouldn't more be better? This never gets to the point that you just wish it would be over already. In fact, when I finished, I found myself compelled to start all over again right away. I had to literally force myslef to stop playing and try some of the other games I picked up over the holiday. You shouldn't let it scare you away, it's too good. The only thing it might mess up for me is my enjoyment of Mass Effect 2, which comes out in January. That game is going to be so similar to this one that I don't know if I can handle two games of this genre within such a short time frame.
With 50 and more hours playtime it's certainly worth the buck.
Oblivion and Fallout 3 were certainly worth their money. For me it was more Oblivion, I played very different characters and when it became boring I started to install the mods and played some more. To my surprise my partner is presently playing Fallout again and again, and guess what, he recently installed some mods.
Joby, the way you describe it I got the feeling Dragon Age might have a more solid story? I'd love that, how would you compare it to the games I mentioned?
I have been playing this game for about 50+ hours. I kinda got a bit bored with it but I know I am in the minority there. The story I like a lot, it's the go from room to room repetitive fighting I kinda got drained on. I really prefer Fallout 3 type of play. If you enjoyed Diablo or Neverwinter Nights you will love this game.
...and turn off all the blood. It's kinda funny how people get so splattered in blood.
Thank you! I'll probably rent it somewhere and give it a try, being bored after 50 hours is alright, I think! :)
It's really ridicules sometimes when you shoot people in the head with a small projectile handgun and the whole body explodes in thousand pieces. Why?
I bet the blood will be censored anyway, no nudity for you, no blood and swastikas for us. Want to swap? :)
They story is really the best part of the game, and goes into much more detail than Oblivion or Fallout 3. The main quest line is really interesting, and the world is fleshed out by codex entries that are added to your journal as you pick up items and treasure in the environment. These entries range from short stories, poems, songs and lore that explain the history of the people, places, creatures and items you encounter during your travels. During my first playthrough I kind of skipped over them until almost halfway through the game in my haste to experience the in game cinematics and quests in the story proper, but then I realized what I was missing. During my second play I pored over the codex entries and it paid off with a real feeling of investment into the world of this game.
