Is this Richard Castle a real author or is this some kind of promo book for the TV series?

They used the Richard Castle name, but it is a different unnamed author to date who wrote the book. Apparently the first part of the book is on the ABC website.

This isn't the first time that ABC has published a book by a fictional character on their channel. I think the first was by a character on One life to live.
Wasn't Nathan Fillion on One Life To Live at one point when he was just getting started?

I picked this book up for my wife as a x-mas present but couldn't help myself and started to read it. It's pretty good, if your a fan of the show it seems to have the same kind of humor. I think it's selling pretty well, I believe it's sold out on the big sites.
Yeah, I want to pick this book up still. Looks like a fun read.
