This starts over here tonight (9/10) on the CW. It looks much like "Twilight", but keep in mind it's based on a set of books that came out BEFORE Meyer's Twilight stuff. But, it sure seems to be very similar. I'll give it a shot.

Anyone else watch this first episode? I thought it was just ok. Maybe it's just too many vampire's are around right now and I found it maybe too similar to other things done before (much like "Twilight", even though these books came first). The main characters are ok. But most look too old for high school to me and much too pretty. Even some of the guys look like they have makeup on. Still, I'll try a few more episodes and see if I become more interested.

Such a shame when we have such a wonderful 'vampire' TV universe just sitting out there not being used anymore...

For the real thing (says the cranky old guy) - check out Anne Rice's books. ((movies were terrible - books great)).

The weird thing is about "The Vampire Diaries" is that it has potential and Entertainment Weekly likes it (and I usually agree with their tastes). I'm going to watch it for a bit and see how it goes. I still think the actors are both too pretty and too old looking for high school students.
