My wife just bought tickets to see Star Wars in Concert. It looks like fantastic!
Has anyone about of it? Is anyone planning on going?
Here's a link to the website. Check it out! http://www.starwarsinconcert.com/ (http://www.starwarsinconcert.com/)
Just saw a commercial for it.. and talked to my brother and he already got front row tickets... I'm thinking about going.
Looks pretty cool!
I think I am going to see it when it comes to Phoenix in October.
Yeah, I've heard about this for awhile and read about it. Looks cool but it appears it's a pretty limited number of places and dates. Nothing remotely near me.
Yeah...wish it was coming to Texas. I'd love to go. Have fun guys.
I have my ticket for this Sunday's show here in Phoenix!

That's when I'll be there! Call me! (480)861-8626. We can hook up in the Museum!
Warner Bros. did something similar - Bugs Bunny on Broadway. All the classics on a huge screen and the Warner Bros Symphony playing live. In between were stories of the creators of Looney Tunes. It was a blast and the place was packed. So much fun.
OK, I'll give you a ring Sunday. See you there! :cheers
YEAH - it's coming to Michigan!!! Woo-hoo!
Just got back! Met up with Steve (Omra), great guy, and managed to spend $10 for a Sam Adams! The prop and costume pieces were so so. The 3-PO was a Don Post and the only good blaster was a rubber stunt from ROTJ. They had some original costumes, but it wasn't all that great. There were some 501st there that looked great, including the TALLEST stormtrooper Steve and I had ever seen!
So the show. WOW. They did a great job combing the visuals with the music. The first half was all music from the prequels, although throughout the performance they used clips from all 6 films. Then they had a 20min intermission. The second half was OT. They had a great laser light show. For me what stuck out the most was how much more heart and emotion the OT has vs. the prequels when seen in this format. I'll be interested if Steve felt the same way. The first half of the show was good, the second half was OUTSTANDING! I was almost moved to tears. :)
GO SEE THIS SHOW.
Nine more days! :metallica:
Ditto what Bryan said...
It was nice seeing the 501st there, and soo many people wanting to get there pictures taken with them. But what made me proudest was seeing so many parents were there with there kids, it was a bonding experience for them. It was so sweet... And so many of them were in costume! ;D
Before the show even started the kids and the parents were playing 'name that sound effect' with each other, it was adorable(they played sound effects to let people know the show was about to start). The little girl next to me spent the entire show in her daddy's lap and they would whisper and point at the pictures on the screen, it was so cute.
It then struck me just what a generational thing Star Wars really is. And that some day these kids will be sharing Star Wars with there kids... :jawdrop
Anthony was a PIP as the narrator, loved his golden vest! :D And we even got an impromptu lightsaber exhibition! ::)
Meeting Bryan was nice, and Meds... he still hasn't grown a mustache!!! :D Though I still think some Wolverine sideburns would look nice on him...

LOL!! Never! Yes, I agree, Steve, the kids were really special and Anthony Daniels was wonderfully dramatic, he would come out prior to each musical set to set in the universe scene.
One thing I forgot to mention. In a scene from Ep1, where little Anakin is being tested by the Jedi Council, the puppet Yoda has been replaced with the CGI one! Looked so much better. It's quick, but keep an eye out for it.
Sounds like a great show. Was Anthony Daniels there in person or was it video of him?

Oh, he's there live. He basically narrates the entire saga and the music highlights the part of the story he introduced. He looks great, very fit and healthy. He also looks like he is having a great time and it showed in his performance.
They also had a wonderful choir for "Dual of the Fates". I still can't get over how poignant and moving the second half was with the OT music and images, especially for "Leia's Theme", really well done.
I don't know if John Williams himself will ever appear at any of the concerts, the conductor that was there was pretty impressive though. I imagine Williams has a pretty hectic schedule... But Daniels was enough of a personal connection with the actual series to make me happy. :thumbsup

As was the James Earl Jones recording introducing Anthony Daniels and the show at the start and after intermission.
I'm poking around the ticket site right now for the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan where it's playing at the end of November. Man this is expensive - not sure I can swing it. Anyway, take a look at this floor plan. The first set of tickets that came up were up in section 215. That looks like a bad angle to me. What kind of seats did you guys have at your place? How is the stage/screen for viewing?
I had tickets for section A on the floor, which was great but the chairs aren't that comfy. My friends Matt and Joan were over in 101, low down a few rows up from the floor. I sat with them for the second half and liked being a bit higher. So no to the floor (too $ anyway), but don't go up to the top. try and anything in 101,126,125 or 113,114,115. I think Steve was also in that general area. You really want to have good line of sight for the HD screen.
Ok - thanks Bryan. Now to come up with $200! ;)

Woah! :shocked
Is that how much a ticket is? Mine was $68 on the floor. Are you taking the whole family?!
Total for two of us $173 in the sections you pointed out. Toss in a bit of money for gas and parking, and actually it would be over $200. I won't go to see it and be in bad seats (which still cost $150 for two). Keep in mind, there is also an almost $11 handling fee per ticket too.
That's right, that mkes sense. How about down on the floor? Maybe those are a bit less and you can still have good line of sight, like maybe D,E,or F?
I forgot about the TicketMaster bend over fee... :thumbsdown
...oh, and my wife had no interest in going, so I only had to pay for me. :)
Floor is all $75 from what I can tell. And don't get me wrong, I really want to see this. It's a simple money issue right now.

Sell a prop or collectibleon ebay to make up for it! That's what I would do. Swap out a bit of Star Wars to get a new Star Wars experience. Keeps the ledger at zero. :)
I saved ten dollars by purchasing in person at the box office, of course I live near the stadium so it was no big deal. But if you are purchasing for two people that might well be worth the price of gas to drive there and get them yourself.
I was up one level and to the right of Bryan and had a good view of everything about 114 on your map. No complaints...

I found $35 tickets in 221, $55 on the side and $75 tickets in A on the main floor - maybe a little TOO close. I didn't see anywhere you can select the section first. Only problem this is general seating chart and may not be accurate for this event.
OH!! I want to see this so much!
My daughter and I went to the concert last night. The exhibits were okay, but the concert was fantastic. We had great seats. The music and light show were awesome. My daughter loved seeing members of the 501st. I'm so happy that my wife caved in and let her go to the concert. My daughter really enjoyed herself.
I wanted to go so badly! I'm glad you got to take your daughter! How cool!

You are always welcome my friend, just call beforehand so you know we are home. Or we can always meet somewhere up there or down here! I'll pm my cell phone. I would love to meet you!
Ok, Star Wars, Music, movie montage behind the orchestra on a big screen, and much more (props, costumes, merchandise).
Check it out the tour to see if it is coming to a location near you. Starts 10/27 thru December. Going to cost some credits.

How can I resist?

Been talking about this for awhile in a thread in the Star Wars Forum section. I'll merge the threads.
The tour came to Boston this weekend. I brought my youngest and my oldest. (My other daughter is still recovering from the flu.) It was an amazing show. I enjoyed the prequel stuff just as much as the OT, but then I appreciate the PT more than most here, I think.
Anthony Daniels was definitely a highlight. We got an encore of Vader's Theme. The New England 501st was there, and the kids really enjoyed that. Lucasfilm had some interesting displays, but it was a bit too hectic to really appreciate them.
WOW! Great pics. Thanks for sharing. Looks like it was a lot of fun!
Oh, that is sooooo cool! Congrats on getting to experience that. I almost went to the Seattle one, but time and moola didn't permit. Thanks for the awesome pictures.
The one thing I was really happy to see was the different generations there. I saw Grandparents, Parents and children there. Star Wars has touched several generations of people.
I am really excited, they announced that Star Wars in Concert will be coming to the City I live in. Actually sort of weird, it will be on June 25, and then the next day I will be going to an Iron Maiden concert at the same location. I have never gone to two concerts so close to each other, plus on both ends of the spectrum.
That's very cool Jeff. Please let us know how you like it.
Going 'waddle' to Star Wars In Concert June 5th with Karlee (my little niece) and my mom who bought the ticket for Karlee for her 6th birthday present. Karlee plans to dress up as Darth Vader. Awesome sauce. I plan to interview her for Anomaly, as she DEFINITELY fits our podcast's definition of "Anomaly".
I went to Star Wars in Concert last night, it was awesome, had a great time. I really enjoyed how Anthony Daniels delivered the story of Star Wars in between the songs, it was much more then I was expecting, and made it all the more interesting. I enjoyed all the music all the way through and the Clips from the movie on the screen behind the stage was fantastic. I was really pumped when they played some music from the Phantom Menace and they showed the Podracing scenes on the screen, later when they played some music from Empire Strikes Back and showed some scenes of the Millenium Falcon in the asteroids, I thought that was really cool. Great experience, so glad I got a chance to see it. Bought a cool Boba Fett T-Shirt as well, with the picture of his helmet made out of musical notes.
Sounds like a good time Jeff. I'm still kicking myself for not seeing this when it came to Michigan.
That is awesome Jeff! I'm so glad you had the opportunity!
It really was a great show. I hear it's touring again later this year, Rico, you should check their web site.
Hey, July 14th in Grand Rapids!

Hey, July 14th in Grand Rapids!
That's the middle of the week. But Milwaukee is only about 90 minutes away and they have two shows on July 10th (a Saturday). I NEED to go to this! Just need a co-pilot for Hoshi!
GO!!!!!
:r2d2line :starwars: :dstar
Well, got back a little bit ago from this show. IT WAS SO AWESOME! Loved every minute! Milwaukee is a nice city and it was an easy ride to get there. Some stuff was set up around the lobby area - mainly costumes, etc. Snapped a fair number of pics with my phone. The music and orchestra was just amazing. I was sitting in like row five, main floor, dead center. Had an awesome seat. Anyway, all SW fans should see this if you can. You will really, really love it! I'll talk more about it on the podcast tomorrow. Here are a few example pics. Go to my Flickr link to see more of this set:

Yep - me too Bryan. I guess it does help to be near Chicago sometimes. I ALREADY WANT TO GO AGAIN!
Cool Pictures Rico, Happy to hear you really enjoyed it, and got a great seat as well.
I'm glad you enjoyed the show. I hope they do an encore tour.

This is sort of an encore tour since the whole thing began over a year ago. More dates still coming this summer.

Watching those Videos, makes me wish I could go again. I know nothing really replaces seeing something live, but it would be cool if they released a DVD of the concert someday.
I am so bummed that I didn't go when it was out here in LA.. hopefully it will make a return visit..or at least to a city close enough for me to drive.
FANTASTIC VIDEO! I wish I would have gone when it was in Seattle now. Perhaps it will swing around again!
Just saw a commercial for Star Wars Concert coming back to CA at the Hollywood Bowl.. advance tickets went on sale today at 10am for American Express Card holders. I was so excited, soon as I got to work I jumped on and bought 2 tickets.. I missed last time when it was out here and I was not going to miss it again.
Never been to the Hollywood Bowl, so I wasn't sure about seating. could have spent $90 a ticket for something fairly close but all the way on the left. Or $55 a ticket for something more in the back but right in the middle. Figured I'd rather seat middle then left.. and being back from the stage shouldn't really matter for a concert.
For those who seen it already.. was that a good choice.. or should I have gotten the closer ones all the way on the left?
No, you should be fine, Kenny. I had seats on the floor and closer to the stage, but moved further back and to the side with my friends for the second Half and actually liked it better further back.
Kenny, I know you'll have a great time wherever you sit. I got lucky and was right down in front in the middle, which was totally awesome. I hope this means there doing another round this summer. I'd love to take Lynn and see it again too.
As I understand it, the cool part is seeing the big screen and how they match the video to the music, I imagine that you can see that screen from any seats. If anything farther back might be better.
