Title: That's the strangest thing that's ever happened to me.
Post by: ChadH on July 31, 2009, 11:54:24 AM
Last night I was thinking about something I saw when I was a teenager. I and some friends were goofing around outside one night and we saw a green/yellow ball of fire falling from the sky. We never heard anything about it in the news afterward, but I'll never forget it. Anyone feel like sharing a story?

I lived across from a cemetery from the age of 0 to 21 and i saw a few strange things there. one night me and my mate Kev sneaked into the graveyard, we were just walking about and we headed to the old section, full of graves dating back to the 17th century. Anyway we hid behind this tomb and saw a small family sitting there with a picnic. Now this is a graveyard, at nine o'clock at night not an ideal place i think you'll agree. Anyway we sneaked up to have a closer look and all they were eating were bananas, yes bananas. We got closer when the older man, stood up and pointed at us, he didn't say anything he just pointed, so we turned round and ran for it, now we were quite far ahead of anyone chasing us and we ran in a straight direction so when we got to the end of the track and the same bloke came from behind a tree and pointed at us you can imagine that a few arghhhhhhs were heard. We jumped the fence and tunred back to look, nothing. Now me being me decided to follow the path back but from behind the fence (I'm not daft) and there was no one on there. Weird stuff.

See now, this is why I exercise. I don't need to run faster than the scary people, I just need to run faster then Meds. :)

Meds, that story was very "Apealing" but you could have really "slipped up" by being one of the "bunch". :)

It's a good thing they "split" when they had the chance. :) But really, nobody has had anything strange happen to them? C'mon, pony up! No-one has that mundane of a life.

This is probably more nerve-curving then strange.  I was in Bangkok for work and since driving around is worse then rush hour here, I was assigned a driver.   Very nice fellow - had one of these large vans with conference tables and captain chairs.

One day, we were driving back from a plant about 100 miles from Bangkok and he stopped to get some gas.  It was a long trip so I decided to get some munchies for the trip.  Welllll, the driver never saw me get out of the van and these captain chairs make it very easy to miss someone.  As I'm walking out the door, I see him driving away.  I didn't panic or get mad - just looked around and saw a road, mountains and sand.  The owners saw everything and no translation was necessary - they were holding the phone thinking that I would want to call someone.  They were correct.  I had a number I could call and they would in turn call the driver and tell him turn around.

As I was dialing, the driver comes screaching back - very apologetic.  We had a good laugh about it and I tipped him $100 before returning to the states.

I've had weird dreams and paranoia times in my life.  But nothing really that odd tbh.

LOL Awesome

When I was a kid, I woke up one night to use the restroom & noticed some orange light through my bedroom blinds.  We lived on the seventh floor of an apartment building in a rural, hilly area, so this struck me as kind of strange.  I peeked through the blinds to see what was causing it, and saw some lights hanging in the air over the hill behind our building.  At first, I thought it might be some flares or something, but they just hung there, kind of drifting up and down, but not quite in sync.  I must have stood there watching for about 5 minutes before I decided to just ignore it.

I'm having issues with using the superlative "strangest."

This isn't even strange, but it freaked me out at the time.  I grew up on an acreage bordered on three sides by fields.  One evening in the fall I was outside doing something, and heard very, very loud rustling and breathing and snorting coming from the woods just south of the house.  It sounded SO close and SO menacing, I was freaking out.  We don't  have wolves or coyotes in our area, and I still don't know what they were.

And, this wasn't strange as in inexplicable, but uber-neat for me.  I've been a Doors fan since I was, like, 12.  A major Doors fan.  I'd resigned myself to never seeing them live because, well, Jim was dead and there were other rifts in the remaining members.  Then, a few years ago, 1) they announced a tour! with Ian Astbury!  2) the tour was playing Sioux City, just four miles from my house,  3)  and the night of the show, Ray Manzerek had dinner just kittycorner from our table (I didn't hassle him for pictures or a photograph, but I was able to eyeball him while eating sushi).  The show was great, but it was almost hard to enjoy because I was so focused on enjoying it.
