Anyone seen this yet? Better yet, can anyone figure out how this is possible? ??? ;)

I've tried 3 times, and each time, the program has guessed correctly right off the bat.
This is very weird. Where did you find this thing? :alien?

A friend from my old college email group shared it with me. Another friend in the group figured it out pretty quickly. I'd share the answer to how it is done, but I don't want to ruin anyone's fun. ;)
wow.. those things are always freaky.. I'm sure there is a simple answer on how it works.. but it's very cool.
I had this thing figured out in the first step and confirmed by the last one. It reminds me of a trick I used to do as a child.

There is a simple answer Kenny... I think it's black magic. :P
Seriously, I would love to know the trick behind that.
You need to study the table of possible answers carefully. Try a few numbers and see what answer it gives for each. I'm sure you'll figure it out.
very clever but yes it is simple mathematics

Please explain this simple mathematics.. I can't get it.
I'll put it in tags in case anyone's still pondering it.
[Spoiler]
Take the 20s as an example.
When you add the digits together for subtraction, what you get is:
20-2
21-3
22-4
23-5
See the pattern?
The answer to all of these is the same - 18.
A similar pattern repeats for the 30s, 40s an all the way up.
In reality, there are only a few possible answers to this puzzle...9, 18, 27 etc. If you look at the table of answers, you'll find tHese values all contain the same word. Oddly enough, that word just happens to be the answer on the next page.
Simple :)

I saw this done with playing cards on the page. Pretty funny.
Aha! I knew it was a mathematical thing. I didn't catch on since the "gifts" change with every play. You math people are so sneaky!
