I am thinking of switching to only releasing the Podcast in AAC file format. This would be an "Enhanced" Podcast with pictures during the playback. These files are AAC and have an (.m4a) extension. I want to know if these files would be a problem for anyone to listen to. They work great and best with iTunes and iPODS but will play in Windows Media Player also. But some portable media players might have an issue playing them. Let me know what you all think of this move.
Sounds good. I wouldn't have a problem, but would they still be playable in iTunes?
Yes, they work great in iTunes and on iPODs. The only issue is the AAC format may not work on some portable media players. If you check your iTunes feed I posted the Enhanced show #50 up now with added visuals!
Love the enchanced podcast... adds a whole in layer of geekness to your podcasts.
You have a great set up at your house for doing podcasts. Looked like one of my avid bays here at work. :biggrin
I listen to podcasts only at work on my MP3 cd player. It can't even play WMA. Anyone got a spare iPod laying around? (I can't spare the cash for one. I'm always broke.)
I can play those types fine.
yeah, they work fine for me, but if i were u Rico, i would release them on both formats every week, because im sure there are a few people like Runic out there... And you probably want as many people listening as possible.
I downloaded a conventional *.mp3 file for work. Rico, A+ work for #50 from TVH sound bytes to listener audio comments. Everyone who submitted comments effectively conveyed their praise for Trek and for the Treks in Sci-fi podcast. The enhanced format did not function for my first attempt, so I vote that both formats be available.
Anticipating reviews of the remaining Trek movies!
The enhanced thing was pretty much a one shot at it. Might try it again in the future, but for now the shows will be .mp3 only I think.
Sounds good. I know how hard it must be to also add the pictures as well as edit. Podcasting takes up the better part of my Saturday, so I can only imaging adding pictures. Great job on the first attempt, and like Kenny, I love your setup. Maybe someday (perhaps show 100!?) youll try it again.
It will work fine with what I use.
