Well, the interview went ok but all they want is a free lance, on commission sales guy to bring them in business.  They don't keep a lot of people directly on staff.  I was a bit disappointed, but the guy was pleasant to talk to and showed me around the place.  I told him I would let him know if I was interested.  But, peddling chemicals and only making about 10% commission on the sales isn't probably in the cards for me right now.  I can do better than that.

So, time to get back at it.  I've got some new places to apply to I have recently found and who knows what Kolene will say after they talk about my ideas next week.  Somehow, I'm still pretty positive and feel ok.  Plus, it was very good to get back talking business, have an interview, etc.

Oh - and it gave me a good idea for today's comic!

Sorry it didn't pan out.  Would have been nice if they had mentioned that on the phone.  I had one goofball who advertised positions for my field but it was nothing more then a seminar.  In front of the others, I just told her off.

You'll find something.  I'm sure of it.  In the meantime, get to level 80 and send me a screenshot.  I'm still playing - just vicariously through Reico. :D

Yeah, I'm getting some tricky phone calls and emails lately that all say, "Great Business Opportunities Await You!"  Even a seminar isn't as bad as some of the scams people are trying to run on the unemployed right now.  It's kind of sad.

I had a tiny feeling something was not quite right about this place since they never told me the actual position.  Plus, the guy did try and pump me for some info about Kolene.  Oh, well.  Not a big deal.  Nice day out and I put the top down on the way back home!

Sorry it wasn't all it might have been. Hopefully it will serve as good practice for the next interview that comes around. Always good to have a rehearsal.

Yep - a friend of mine likes to say things like if it's meant to happen, it will.  Kind of a destiny thing.  I'm starting to believe in that more every day.

They can't all be winners. At least it proves that there are positions out there!

Fit is important and getting it on the first callback would be a miracle.

Sorry it wasn't what you had hoped for mate, but at least you left them hanging for YOUR answer eh?
It's a pity these people don't give important details like "freelancing" before you have to waste your time.  >:(

It's ok.  I wasn't super shocked, actually.  Since I got hardly any info before going in.  And yeah, I told them I would follow up with them next week.

I am a firm believer in destiny. What happens was meant to happen. I can think of so many things about my past, that in hindsight I would have done different, changed, etc. However, had I done that, I likely wouldnt be where I am today, with my kids and my soulmate. And by destiny, im not inferring that there is an all powerful entity that leads us along like a grand game of The Sims. I just mean that where we end up, when it's all said and done, is where we led ourselves to. Sometimes it's a happy ending, sometimes not. But, the type of person we are and the life we lead, can have a major impact on how we feel about where we eventually end up and the path we took to get there. Rico, you're a good guy from all I have gathered listening to this show and lurking the boards, so it's safe to say that your decisions, experience, and gut feelings will always lead you to the proper place.
After Sept 11, 2001, I was unemployed for a while and finding a job was a nightmare. After a few false starts and even a small business venture with my wife, I ended up making a random phone call to a temp agency I had worked with before. They had one possibility, and its turned into the job I have had for over 5 years now. A production type job that has even turned in to an opportunity to put my 3D modeling hobby to practical real world use. Just weird. A blue collar job has put me in a spot to learn to use 3D design software that could one day lead to a better job. Had I rolled over and watched another episode of ER instead of making the call, well, what would that alternate reality have been like :-)

Sorry if I got long winded and/or boring, just been there and done that. Thought I would offer some words of encouragement.

I will echo what others have said here today.  On the journey of life, there are always potholes that throw you offstride for a bit.  The mettle of a man is how he adjusts and navigates through/around those potholes.  Having listened to you for almost two years now, I feel like I know you.  And from what I know, you are a strong, persevering person who sets and meets his goals with vision and determination.  These traits have and will continue to serve you well.

Keep your shades on cuz your future will undoubtedly be 'bright'!  Just keep up the positive attitude and your determination will be rewarded in ways you probably cannot even imagine right now.
