I'm pretty excited. I get to go see Darrell Mansfield tonight. He is in concert about 30 minutes from our home.

I used to collect Darrell Mansfields records. I don't listen to him anymore but when I did I liked him a lot.

I got a call from Darrell around 3 p.m. and he asked if we could meet for coffee and just catch up on life. So I took Amy, Andrew and Catherine and we met at a little church next to the theater. He ate his dinner and we talked about life. I was able to thank him for the influence in music, faith and creativity that he was in my life. He seemed really encouraged. It was really nice. Then they asked me to take pictures of the concert. So I did.

Here I am with my old bandmates from a rock band called Lookout. It was fun to see all my old friends tonight too! Rather nostalgic.

All in all, it was a very cool and encouraging evening. I really needed it. It's not often you get to thank people that have such a big impact on your life, while they are still living. So I count it as a once in a lifetime experience.

Over the years we have emailed and spoken briefly. He read my web page and has heard some of my sermons and stuff. So we know of each other. He was about 100 miles away a few months ago and I wasn't able to go up and see him. So I saw that he would be in Raymond and I emailed him and said I was coming, then he asked me for my cell phone number. And the rest as they say, was history. Nice guy, I'd go again in a heartbeat!
