Hey Joe - have you ever used this mod?  If so (or not) what do you think or know about it?

haven't used it myself, I use QuestHelper instead of CarboniteQuest. Second hand I've heard that people that use it like it. However, Blizzard just released new terms for mod authors. I know Carbonite charges for the full version of their mod suite. According to the new terms this is no longer allowed.

Yeah - I was just listening to The Instance and heard them talking about that.  I'm surprised Blizzard let them get away with charging for this long.

I don't see a huge problem with it. If people think it's good and are willing to pay, then more power to you.

Well, the game is Blizzard owned and they don't work for Blizzard.  Software is a tricky legal thing, but it seems they own everything related to it.  No one else can make a dime off their product - unless they get a license.  Unlike say someone that makes floor mats that will fit in your car.

Well, I agree with Rico.  They shouldn't be allowed to charge for it.   However, I also wonder how many people bought this?  To be honest, not the wisest idea considering that there are many mods (for free I might add) that do the job just as well.  Trust me, I was an addon user in WoW and I had those same exact mods (not from them ofc) and they did the job I wanted just fine.

But I guess it comes back to that old saying, A fool and his money are soon parted.  :-\

No offense to anyone who plays WoW, I play EvE Online so I'm in the same boat as everyone else.  :P :)  ;)

Well, looks like there's nothing to stop you from trying out the full suite now... from their site:

QuoteIn response to the recently announced User Interface Add-On Policy we will no longer be selling a subscription to Carbonite. We are in the process of converting Carbonite to be fully compliant with this new policy and will provide more details when we can.

We would like to thank all our customers for their support and hope we can continue to deliver the product and service that you have come to expect.

2.59 is now available on the downloads page and 3.00 should be out next week.

The Carbonite Team.
