Well, this weekend I get a little break while Jeff guest host's the show and does an excellent job covering the TV series "Earth 2." Big thanks to Jeff for doing this and for doing such a great job! Thanks my friend!

Looing forward to hearing this. lets get the ipod updated.
Thanks Rico, Thanks for your Guidance and support on this Podcast. After doing It I realized how much work you put in each week with your podcast and makes me appreciate them even more.
I would also like to thank Rick Moyer for his support, comments and Bob and Gebular piece for me to use at the start.
I would like to thank Jen as well for sending me some promos for her show, so that I could include one in the podcast.
Hey Jeff thanks for the outstanding podcast on Earth 2!
That show had a great cast and the "future history" it described was intriguing.
I was sad Earth 2 ended before it's time, but not as disappointed if the studio had dumbed it down.
Zero - "Danger Uly Adair , Danger!"
JediJeff you did an excellent job on this week's podcast. I too am a fan of Earth 2. You did a very detail overview of the show. It's too bad it was so short lived. I have it on DVD and will be watching it again in the near future.
Thanks for the podcast, Jeff! Downloading now. :)
I'm looking forward to listening at work tomorrow Jeff! Can't wait to hear it. :)
Just listened. Great job Jeff!
I used to watch Earth 2 when it was originally on. I remember enjoying the show but don't remember a lot of details. This was a great refresher and reminded me of why I liked it. The 90's had a lot of "space/ship-oriented" sci fi (Trek, re-releases of Star Wars and the new movies, Seaquest, etc) and I always thought it was refreshing to have a sci fi series that didn't primarily deal with space or being on a ship of some type.
Anyways, again good job Jeff and I look forward to hearing more from you!
I am half done with it and will listen to the rest today. EXCELLENT. It brought back a lot of memories, in fact I ordered the DVD's off of Amazon last night. Great Job Jeff.
As Bob and Gebular would say. Happy New Ear.
:)
Thanks for the replies all, I really appreciate it. I really enjoyed doing the podcast, as I watched the entire series before I did the podcast, so it reminded me of why I missed it so much.
I did kick myself as I had a clip regarding Yale that I forgot to play, as I promised to cover him when I did the sound clips. Hopefully the scene with Yale, True and Uly shed some light on him. Also for time, I had to cut out clips on the Martins, since I felt other clips were more important, but wished I could have included a bit more of them.
Jeff you have discovered one of the trickiest parts of podcasting - what to keep and what to let go. Every week I'd like to include more sound clips, other news, etc. But it can get very long. I think you did a great job covering the highlights.
Also this is even trickier then a regular show as you're trying to introduce us to an entire series as opposed to a single episode. Rico does it very well when he reviews non-trek series and you did just as well! It's hard to cover EVERYTHING about an entire season of a show in an hour.
I haven't been able to listen to the podcast yet, but will hopefully be able to very soon. According to everyone who's posted, I will definitely enjoy the podcast Jeff despite never having watched the show..
Rico, I think having someone every month or so hosting the show is a neat idea.
Listened today at work, great job. Really enjoyed it.
I think Earth2 was a bit ahead of its time. Think Lost. Some similarities. I think TV viewers have grown also, it might make it if it were started today.....unless FOX was in charge, they would cancel after 13 episodes leaving 2 unaired.
Great subject, Jeff! "Earth 2" was one of the more intriguing series of the time. Kind of the "Lost" and "Lost In Space" of its time. Wonderful production values and it helped to bring Clancy Brown to prominence (who, in my opinion, was the strongest actor on the show). Their tech conceptions were very cool and believable. The character setup was mostly interesting. There were some nice stories, but they lost me with the New Age-y aspect of the show. I get that the Terrians were Native American analogues, but it just felt awkward to me.
I also had a real big problem with the Yale character. Here was the featured Black character who was essentially an owned, evanescent human. Yes, they tried to offset him with the indentured servitude of the Danziger character, but Yale was essentially a freak, not a whole person. Not a great message to send. It made me very ambivalent about the series and sometimes difficult to watch. Like another contemporary, "Sea Quest", it had high production values, but awkward stories. "Earth 2" was clearly the superior series of the two.
I really love the pilot episode. There was a depth and elegance to it. The development of the Devon/Danziger partnership was very interesting. It didn't necessarily have to turn into a romantic relationship. The class disparity and opposite gender aspect was important and just them being friends would have been quite a powerful message — that gender friendship can exist with bringing sex into it, that people of different classes can coexist (IMHO).
Anyway, thanks for an interesting podcast of a series worth remembering.
Hey Jeff, just wanted to say I really enjoyed your podcast. It has really got me interested in watching Earth 2 once more.
Got to say I am really loving this idea of guest hosts. There are a lot of people here with great knowledge of particular shows and films and it gives Rico some well deserved time off!
I hope you will consider doing another podcast in the future Jeff.
Great job Jeff. I've never seen Earth 2 and now I'm of thinking seeking out the DVDs. :)
Oh, and don't apologize for your Canadian accent. It rocks. ;)
Jeff you're from Alberta, right?
Hey Jeff,
Just finished listeneing to your Earth 2 podcast and loved it, well done mate. I no nothing about Earth 2 and i was delighted to hear Tim Curry was in it. The best praise i can give you is that after listening to this i'm going to buy the DVD. Well done again, great commentry, great sound clips, nice one Rick for throwing in your review.
PS i agree with Jen, your accent is cool.
Great job buddy.. you set some high standards for the rest of us who follow with Guest hosting. :)
I watched the first half of season one but then gave up on it.. I think it's time to revisit it.
And as many have said here.. don't apologize for your accent.. it makes you who you are.. we like you just the way you are.
OK you guys are crazy. I don't hear any accent.
:)
Aye ;)
...and yes I realize I am also Canadian and that may have something to do with it. :)
Thanks for all the replies. Yes Joe, I am from Alberta. I am like you, I can never pick up others Canadian accents (well unless it is Bob and Doug McKenzie as it is over the top). I know in my other podcast that I do, I have had a few comments in the past that I sounded Canadian, and when I went back and listened I could hear my accent. I used to have a bad habit of saying eh a lot, but I have worked to try and keep that down a bit.
Thanks Darmok for your reply, I agree that Yale was a bit of an unfortunate Character, especially for the time. I guess though throughout the season, the character was exonerated to a certain point. If they had another season it would have been interesting to see if they would have explored his character more as being a free person.
I knew a guy from Petawawa and he had a pretty think accent that I was able to pick up on. Also I can obviously pick up a Quebec accent but aside from that most anglophone Canadians sound alike to me!
I've just been putting a couple of comments on the front page and realised I never made my comment here.
I have to say I was impressed! A 'new' voice discussing a show I personally had never even heard of could have gone either way but to my ears, this was an excellent show and has put another series on my 'list of things I need to watch'.
Thanks Jeff.
Jeff,
I got to listen to your show yesterday, and it was a treat. I echo what others have said, that your accent is mild and, regardless, is nothing to apologize for.
I was an Earth-2 fan when it aired, but I hadn't thought much about it since it went off the air. Your refresher on the series reminded me of how good it was and how much I missed it.
Thanks,
Dan
Thanks Dan and Feathers for the kind words.
