For years, I have been prohibited from dropping serious coin on a new plasma or LCD TV by my cost conscious wife. A flat panel TV was that line in the sand for her on my spending habits. :) But now that prices have come down so low, she has given me the ok and after much research and consideration for the space limitations and lighting characteristics of out living room, we have just purchased and LG 42" LCD, their 70 series with 120Hz refresh. $1277 with free shipping from Amazon! Next up is a Sony PS3 for Blu-Ray and games!

Man, you got that right! 42" is the maximum size we can fit in out entertainment insert area above our fireplace. I considered making it larger, but it would have been a major project I don't feel like undertaking now and 42" is a good size that is being phased out in LCD. Most sets are 40 or 47 now it seems.
I have a 42 inch and it's plenty big enough for smaller rooms. Or if your seating will be close to the screen (like 9 to 12 ft.) You should enjoy it and you'll really be impressed once you have a way to play Blu-Ray!

So our new LG 42" LCD arrived today. A full 1080 plus the new 120HZ refresh rate technology which is going into all the new LCD's. LG calls it TrueMotion. Well, turns out SpikeHD, which I have, is playing the OT this weekend and tonight I watched ANH. It was incredible. I saw colors and details I have never seen before in all my viewings of the film. The TrueMotion is so clear, it almost makes the film look like video. It can be turned off to make the moving look less sharp and more like film, but it was amazing to see it that way.
