Title: Christmas/ Holiday Gifts
Post by: Geekyfanboy on December 25, 2008, 09:16:16 PM
Okay what did everyone get for the Holidays?

I got my 60" Big Screen TV, a ton of DVD's, clothes, and for my podcast a USB mixer and fancy new microphone. All in all it was a pretty good Christmas.

I was spoiled this year and got my ipod touch, a keyboard (both early) Then my kids got me I Robot on Dvd, the first season of monk, and Catherine got me a cool new insulated coat for my walks.  Amy got me a waffle iron!  I've wanted one for some time.   We got to spend some nice time with my in laws today.  We played Yahtzee Free For all.  That was fun.

Then I went and visited my Grandma at the nursing home.  That was hard.  She is like 89 and didn't know who we were half the time.  It was sweet to spend time with her, but hard.  I got to visit with my folks on the phone.  That was good too.

It was a nice Christmas.

Well, my wife and I dont usually exchange gifts, as we get enough stuff during the year. But the kids got some cool stuff...my 18yo got money and Spore(for PC).
My 4yo got tons of military action figures/vehicles and a bike.
My 10yo got a video game, a pellet rifle/2 pistols, and various other stuff.

Well, my geek buddy at work did get me one of those AirHogs, the little helicopter. And I got him the Art Asylum TOS Enterprise for his new office. We stood in his office with the lights out, giggling like little kids, for about 20 minutes pushing the button to make all the lights and sounds go.
(And yes, the urge did hit me to grab it and run up and down the hall making warp noises, but I didnt)

And about 30 minutes crashing the helicopter.

Lego Indy is a great game.  I'd rank it slightly ahead of Lego Star Wars and just behind Lego Batman.  Have fun with that.

I got a $100 gift certificate to Bannana Republic and three Audrey Hepburn movies (Charade, Breakfast At Tiffany's and Wait Until Dark) from David. His parents bought me the Orange Box and the complete Lego Star Wars for the XBOX 360 and a $50 Visa gift card. My family made gifts for each other...but my brother broke the rules and bought me 1600 Microsoft Points. I've been playing Geometry Wars with Dave and Pool with my brother over XBOX Live while I recover from the cruddy cold my little 4-year-old niece and 5-month-old nephew gave to me over the holidays. It was worth it though...I couldn't pass up playing with them. I gave her a Leap Frog and a game to go with it (Jedi Math). She loved it. She had never played a game with a D-Pad and control stick...But once I showed her how she mastered it very quickly. :)

Oh, I've played all of them on the PC already.  I do love them, so they gave me the 360 version. Now to earn some Achievements. :D

The highlight has to be the iPhone and to be honest that's probably the only tech toy. I'm a PDA head as much as a Sci-Fi fan so adding an iPhone to my Palm and Windows Mobile devices seems logical.

I also got a cardboard 'build a dalek' kit which I've mostly completed. I keep looking at the kids with the eye stalk on my head. That's about it on the Sci-Fi front, not even any DVDs this year :(

Ha ha nice one Feathers. Think we need a photo with the Dalek stalk on your head.

I generally don't get much for Christmas, but my brother tends to get me something geeky - this year be bought me 'Star Trek Legacy' on the Xbox and a four leaf clover in 'space gel' :)
