Hi everyone. We got back from a three day trip to the Texas Renaissance Festival Sunday night and both Dave and I brought home bad colds.... ug... but I also brought back lots of great photos. The theme this past weekend, was Pirate centric...so we threw in a ninja, which happened to be me!
:batman
For obvious reasons I can't post all the photos here, but I'll attach a few to this post as well as a link to the Anomaly Podcast photo gallery, where you can see several photo albums full of photos from Renfest past and present along with several other geeky photos (check out the Ninja vs Pirates photo album). All you have to do is click on the "drop down menu" beneath the heading ::Gallery:: on our gallery page, and select one of six photo albums (Anomalies, Ninja vs Pirates, Renfest, Renfest 08, Star Trek The Experience and Star Wars).
The "Renfest 08" album is loaded with the newest photos, but all of the folders have new pics in them. We've been trying to upload Renfest vidcasts for two weeks but had trouble with our server. Angela continues to work on that issue, but in the meantime we will be putting them on youtube—I'll let you know when they are up. We are also about to post our "Renfest 08 Roundtable" episode. We recorded that before we left. Look for that in the Anomaly Podcast feed sometime this week. :)

The photos are great, Jen! I really wish I could have gone to RenFest, but school and work are taking a big toll on my social life right now. I'm hoping next year... we'll see though.
I really like the pic of Ninja Jen vs. Dave the Lone Musketeer. Just seeing his body in midair and looking as if he's about to give you a blow to the head is just hilarious. Oh the joys marriage must hold... I can't wait. ;)
Those are great pictures Jen and those EARS !! :D
Great pictures Jen. I really like the one of Dave in the air coming at you the Ninja. Excellent!
How fun!
Can't wait to hear your podcast about it.
All I can say is that you make one heck of a beautiful elf Jen! :P
Kevin
Great pics Jen; looks like y'all had a ball! I look forward to the new Anomaly podcast. When is it coming out?
Great pictures Jen.. looks like you guys had a great time. I too look forward to the podcast.
Awesome stuff! Looks like it was a blast! Can't wait to hear all about it on your show.
So looking forward to hearing the podcast Jen, your photos are brilliant. i just love those ears ha ha, they look sooooooo cool. And wow, how high is Dave doing that Kick, wicked action.
And now we know why the emperor was so enamored with Captain Sevryll - truth and fiction and all that!
Thanks everyone. Glad you like the photos. There are a BILLION more that I may keep adding to the gallery, so check our site from time to time. :)
The Pre-Renfest Roundtable Episode is up in our feed now. There were four videos from 2007 and a few new videos that we have been trying to add but Angela is having a lot of trouble getting them to download...She's going to keep working on it, so don't give up on trying any video files that may appear in our feed. For now I may put them on youtube... I'll probalby put those up later tonight. I'm home, sick with a bad cold right now and I'm supposed to be resting...So after I check my email, I'm going to sleep!
The audio on the newest show is a little wonky because of the number of guests we had live in our multi-million dollar studio (in Angela's livingroom), so forgive the quality of this one show. Most of the time our equipment cooperates with us. Note about this episode, while Angela and I try to keep our show profanity free, there are a few guests who use mild language (no f-bombs). I missed a couple of the 'a@#" words, in editing but did manage to bleep the rest.
If you're not a subscriber to our podcast, you can find this show and 14 others on iTunes by searching for "Anomaly" (by Angela and Jen) or going to our "Subscribe" page at http://www.anomalypodcast.com (http://www.anomalypodcast.com) Our show is a bi-weekly and sometimes tri-weekly show...we'd make more if we weren't so busy. ;)
Cool, as you know i'm a subscriber and will look forward to my ipod being updated. i actually quite like a bit of naughty profanity every now and again especially if it bleeped. I always laugh at a bleep noise. Bleepy bleep bleep. hee hee.

I used a donkey bray for effect. LOL. :D
The "A" word was flying and I thought the bray was funnier.
Ha ha, wicked. :)
All but one of our videos is up on youtube now. As always the quality suffers when we upload our files there. They were originally intended for small screens (iPods) so the quality might be better if you can download them and move them to your mp3 devices. I will make sure Angela keeps trying to put these in our feed, but until then here you go:

I love all the people in costumes.. watching this makes me really want to go to our next renfest.

Cool stuff Jen. Remember, if you upload a high quality Mpeg 4 video, You Tube will give people the high quality viewing option. What type of file did you upload?

Oh, I know... The video was shot in hi-def and the authoring files were created on my G4 using iMovie. My old Mac is tricked out but it isn't set up to handle exporting such large file sizes. I can only export ipod videos if the footage is hi-def. All future videos will be edited on David's computer which is tricked out to the max. :D
Until Angela can sucessfully upload these videos to our feed...they are doomed to be this quality on youtube.
Angela and I just returned from our yearly trip to the Texas Renaissance Festival this past Sunday (2009), and I finally had an opportunity to sift through our collective batch of photos. It was a real "frog strangler" this past weekend. That's Texas for: "it rained heavily". We named our camp the "Swamp Of Sorrows" because of its soggy nature. Luckily, the group we go with every year, had a motor home, a pop up trailer and an RV trailer. That, btw, is not the norm. Instead of pitching a tent in the the Swamp of Sorrows, Dave and I slept in the back of our SUV...NOT comfortable....I prefer the cold, hard ground to our Mountaineer. It did not rain the day we went into the fair, which was nice. The Texas Renaissance Festival is about 6 weeks long (Fair opens every weekend) and each weekend is themed. The day we went, it was Octoberfest (hence Angela's very appropriate German bar maid costume) :)
As is my tradition, I wore my a pair of elf ear tips. I painted them myself, to make them match my skin tone. They always freak people out...sometimes people ask if I've "docked" my ears.
Angela made my skirt and altered my bodice to fit me better. I dyed my boots brown and weathered them, made my own purse and chose all the fabrics that made up my costume. I very much enjoy costuming. :)
Dave took all the shots of me... I don't think he photographed anything else at T-Ren this year. :) Oh, Dave and I are going back to T-Ren in a couple of weeks. I'll make sure he takes photos of other people in their costumes. LOL.
Anyway, I plan to put all of our photos on the Anomaly Podcast Gallery soon. I'll add a link here when they're ready. In the mean time, here are a few photos of me, Dave, Angela, Jim and our our group.
I'll post a link to our gallery with all the photos once I've uploaded them to our Flash Gallery. Look for that soon. Here's a few more.
BTW, Stephanie (Angela's best friend from high school and frequent guest on Anomaly) is the woman in the flaming chain mail. She won "most original costume" with that dress at Dragon Con this year. Woot! :D
Very cool pictures! It made me miss the old place.
Great pics! Looks like you all had an awesome time!
Great pictures Jen! It looks like a good time was had by all! I'm surprised that Kenny hasn't joined you guys for the festivities. Seems like his kind gig.
Kevin
We did have fun. A funny thing happened this year, there were professional press photographers following our group around the fair. And anytime our group raised their voices or did anything silly, people stopped to watch us, like they do when the performers do something noteworthy. I'm pretty sure some folks were briefly convinced we all worked there. :D
Fantastic photos Jen you all look great. I told you earlier but I'll say it here it's good to see Dave bearding it up again lol. Looks like so much fun :)
Ps I've refrained from saying it but I just can't help myself. Photo of Angela, what a great pair of jugs. Lol
Wow, these are amazing pics...im a little jealous!
Great pics Jen. You all look perfect and really fit into the era.

Schedule a trip Kenny!!! :)
Yep, we'll have a microcast recap of Renfest 2009. We recorded a little at the camp last Friday. It will probably have to have an "explicit" rating due to the rather large gathering of crazy friends.
Meds, I just read your "jugs" comment to Angela. She busted up laughing!
I'm there Jen.. seriously I'm going to start planning a weekend trip. Maybe next year. :)
Yes, Ren Fest is like what Christmas was when I was a kid. So much fun anticipating and being there. I wish the Ren Fest feeling could last all year long. We had a blast. Thank you for the compliment. I love my jugs.
You both look absolutely beautiful. :love
...and so does Dave. :blush

My pleasure Angela lol ;)
More pics are up on the Anomaly gallery. Use the drop down menu on the upper left, under "Galleries" to view our "Renfest09" images http://tiny.cc/DVOjn (http://tiny.cc/DVOjn)
You can control the gallery slide show using the buttons under the heading "slideshow control". I know, it's a given, but you'd be surprised how many people miss it. :D
Dave and I are going back to T-Ren next weekend...may have some more pics of other costumed renfesters afterwards.
I feel like I need to share my own photo.
Sorry it was so giant. Oh well. Hey Jen.

I've never heard of Renfest. What is it?
Just got around to looking at these. Looks like a great time! Pretty ladies, handsome gents! Costuming seems like such a cool hobby!

It's short for Renaissance Festival. Check our podcast for in-depth info. ;)
We have recorded an episode on the topic once a year for about three years now.

That it is. :) Dave and I are going back this weekend..."Pirate Weekend". Hope to have more photos of crazy pirates.
Is there a podcast number? or title?

Is there a podcast number? or title?
They all have the title "Renfest" worked into them. If you don't want to subscribe and listen to all our shows (which I hope you would do after listening to one of the two listed below), use the archive player and scroll to the casts that incorporate the word "renfest" into the title. One is "Anomaly of Ren Fest Roundtable" and one is "Anomaly Preparing for Texas Ren Fest". I recommend listening to "Preparing for Tex Ren Fest", from two years ago, first, as it's just Angela and I discussing our costuming goals and explaining what it's all about. The other involves a larger group and we had to share our microphones, sound quality was not as good.

Ive been listening to Treks in scifi for a long time now. I just listened to my first Anomaly podcast and i liked it. Definitly subscribing to it. I will go back and check that "roundtable" in the archives.
Thanks Jen
Looking forward to the follow up podcasts.
Does Dave have to qualify as a full blown Anomaly to get on audio? ;)
