Ok - I have an idea that I think might be fun for show # 200. I want to have people act out a little favorite scene that they enjoy from any TREK series - on video of course. You can do this solo or with others (if you can recruit them). I want to make this a very fun vidcast for show #200 and I think this could be a blast to do!
So, what do all of you think? Are you up for out-Shatnering the Shatner? Or ordering some "Earl Grey - hot and making it so?" Start thinking about what you might do. 5 minutes or less would be best. Comments & questions welcome,....

Oh... I have to get Angela involved in this!
Yes - we are ALL counting on that I think!
hmmmm I may have to bow out of this one.. not one for being in front of the camera and acting.. that's why I work behind the scenes :) .. but I think it's a cool idea and there are plenty of folks on this forums who can ham it up in front of the camera.
But Kenny - you played that hobo in "The Guild." Time to stretch those acting muscles again. Even just a quick "Make it so." ;)
Hey, I already did my best Commodore Decker for you guys! I even got dressed up for it! :biggrin

Yes - but your fans demand more!!! Time to do the whole earlier part,...
Kirk: "Matt there is no third planet!"
Decker: "Don't you think I know that? There was, but not anymore! They called me, they begged me to beam them up,...all 400 of them, and I couldn't,...I couldn't,..."
Love the idea but why not all sci fi? I would love to do some stargate scene.....
It sounds fun to do, but I get to rapped up in the little details, like the fact I don't have any costume materials or good looking set. I think I know something I could do, but something just would seem wrong about not having the jump suit or suitable set, so if the scene doesn't turn out that great it's cause I couldn't get into the character.
I am so in on this one. heheehhe.
My favorite scenes from Star Trek....
heheheh
This is a great idea but I'm going to pass on it to. I hate seeing myself on camera and I'm afraid I'd make a fool of myself. Good luck everyone and I look forward to seeing the video's when Rico posts them.
Hmmmm, I'll have a go, have no idea what to do and i'm a bit prop less but hey ho i'll think of something.

LOL! Dude, that WAS what I was going to do last time but it was too complicated! I love that scene!
Bryan....
You do both Kirk and Decker and edit them later together!
Just a little reminder bump for this. And,..

Don't forget - video deadline for show # 200 is Nov. 21st.
Deadline is approaching for the big #200! Don't miss out! Get working on those videos!!
Starting mine on Sunday?
Meds, asked me if you can do a Star Trek type sketch and not just act out a scene. Something funny like they would do on SNL, etc. That would be fine to do too.
Hee hee, what can i come up with now ;)
One week to go for this folks. Don't miss out!
Ok - just a couple days to go now for your videos folks. I only have two so far. This might be a short vidcast!
P.S. I think I have a really fun idea for a way to start show # 200. Came to me while shaving this morning. I need to shave or shower many times a day because that's where I get all my really cool ideas! :)
OK, I have an idea and I am going to try and do a video today for 'ya Rico! :)
Nathan and I are almost done, a few more tweaks and it's coming our way. Will you pm me or point me to the specs that work best for you for our final output format?
Mpeg 2 or Mpeg 4 is probably best. I'm ok with .wmv too. The only files that tend to give me trouble sometimes are Mac formats like .mov and things like that.
Ok folks I have previewed a couple of videos and all I can let out now is they are great! Trust me, dust off that camera and make something for the show. You will be kicking yourself for 100 more podcasts if you don't. Join in on the fun! It doesn't have to be hard - just jump in and do it! I really want this show everyone can share and I want it to be extra special!
SO GET RECORDING!
Just finished by little video. Yes, I am retarded as usual as not to disappoint my fans! :wacko

Well then you will love this one! I really ham it up!
The deadline is Nov. 21 right? midnight? Been working weeks on this one, and only going to be 2 min. It will be unique!
Vartok
I'll see if I can do one....its too bad Star Trek people never had pets (except Enterprise I suppose)....
Hmm
King
Data had spot.
Picard had his fish!
And Spock had his big evil cat thing (a seylat was it)!
Archer and Porthos the beagle!
Oh, you said that. Sulu had that wierd plant thing in the first two pilot episodes of TOS when he was still a botanist!
Ugh, I fail as a Geek.
Go ahead and do with me what you will. :( :( :(
King
Right take Tims geek card away and put it with Joe's (failing to watch Return of the King) and Bryans (failure to like the new enterprise ;) ) and mine oh hold on erm......... damn firefly ;)
OK ---- I'm still low on videos. Come on folks! You really, really want to be a part of this - trust me. I'm pulling out all the stops (did I have stops??).
The ones I have so far are great! Thanks to those that have done one and sent them in.
So pull out your geekiest t-shirt and grab the video camera!
One day left to send them in!
Oh - as an added incentive, watch the trailer for good old episode # 150 from about one year ago. I want # 200 to be even BIGGER!

My God, you are pale, Rico.... ;)
Yes! Come on everyone! I have 0% technical ability but a with a web cam and absolutely no issue whatsover of looking like a total goofball, IT CAN BE DONE!!!! Support the show support the Rico!!!!......so maybe he can go someplace warm and get a little tan....
Ha ha nice one Bryan. Yeah come on everyone, mine's rubbish so Rico needs your help. If you don't get to be part of this you'll have to wait for years and years, well 50 weeks. ;)

Right!!!! I mean although I look like a goofball, Meds actually IS a goofball!! It CAN BE DONE!!!!
.....;) mate....
cheeky Bryan ha ha ha ha :) thats another pint you owe me.
I'm sorry Rico, but my Video Camera driver got corrupter or some stupid thing...idk, I'll have to fix it. The scene itself that I was trying to do was too complicated to do on my own so....yea.
Sorry, but not this time. :(

Hi Rico. Hi everyone. I had this cool idea for a video but unfortunately I won't have time to do it. I don't have a video camera or even a webcam (or a laptop or ipod :o). I'm a little behind the times. I've been at Camp Pendleton for some time now and we're heading out to the field once again tomorrow through Sunday morning. So. . .
Rico congratulations on the 200 episode of Treks in Sci-Fi. I hope you do 200 more! Thanks for all the time, energy and effort you put into the podcast. Thanks for making this cool community of sci-fi geeks.
Well, still not as many videos as I would have liked to get but the show must go on! I'll accept any last ditch efforts today if you want to slip me something.

I think the context in which you were asking the videos to be was difficult for some folks. Not all of us enjoy being in front of the camera and then you are asking us to act out a favorite scene. If you gave us the option to recall a favorite scene and talk about why we love it for 2 to 3 minutes you might have gotten more responses.
I applaud those who did do the video and look forward to episode 200.
I understand that Kenny. But we have done your suggestion before back on show 185. I was looking for something different for this time out. And you might be surprised at the uniqueness of some of the videos I have. There are ways around actually being in front of the camera for this idea if you think about it a bit.
P.S. The video count isn't actually that bad right now. I think just one less than the last vidcast.
Oh I'm creative and had a great idea of acting out scenes with my action figures just never found the time to do it.
Well, I have no nice technology, software or any costumes and props of any kind. Then I thought "well why not make that the whole point of the video". So with that in mind, prepare for vast amounts of cheese, loads of ham and a huge helping of corn. And absolutely no special effects or nice musical SFX. But I just had to do it, all for fun. However, seeing it back is so cringeworthy and It's gonna be even more painful to view once I know you guys have seen it. :ohwell

cheese, ham and corn !!! you are becoming more like Heston everyday. ;)
Well, last time out proved to me that I just don't have the hardware/processing power for the job. :(
I thought your last vid message was pretty good Mike, :)
I had the hardest time with this, cause I wanted to do a video, but I could for the life of me come up with a Star Trek clip that I could do. All the good ones I thought of would have require props which I don't have, other actors which I don't have, a relatively Trek like set which I also don't have, and there is always the matter of time.
You didn't need any props. Just had to know a few lines.
Next time Rico has an assignment like this, let me know if you're stuck and I'll help. I could always send you a video clip of myself doing half the lines if you don't want to play more than one part.
