The new theme song for QOS was released today. I read about it on the BBC and they had about a 40 second clip and it sounded awful! When I say awful I am talking about the song itself not the sound quality, although that was not the best either. It's performed by Alicia Keys and Jack White. I thought that before I pronounce judgment on the song I need to at least hear the whole thing and I found it on Spin.com. After hearing the whole song all I can say is it's not as bad as the BBC clip made it sound. Although I really do not like Alicia keys at all it's he instrumentation that sells the song as a Bond theme to me. Here is the link. Just click the play button where it says download now:

See what you think and post your opinion. On the BBC site only about 10% of the posters respond favorably. Even though I think it's an acceptable theme it still seems like something classier and dangerous could have been done. Perhaps Broccoli needs to re-evaluate releasing this song as the main theme?

Terrible. Absolutely terrible. You'll drive people out of the theaters with that as the main song. I'm usually very flexible with this sort of thing, but that was terrible. Its like listening to the worst fan music. Just...grating and annoying. If I have to listen to that, then I might look somewhere else.

The one from "Casino Royale" by Chris Cornell was so much better. I just put it up in the pop up music player. Called "You Know My Name."
It isn't good, I agree. But plenty of awful Bond movies had good songs, so obviously there's no correlation between the theme and the movie itself.

Oh - I have no doubts the movie is going to be great. And certainly there have been good songs with bad movies and vice versa. Just wish this one was better.
To be honest, it is different, but I did not hate it. I find a lot of times for me, the Title song goes with the opening title sequence of the movie, so after I see the two together, I will probably have a better opinion of it. But for right now, I think it is kind of cool as a song on it's own. I always felt Jack White/White Stripes had some cool music.
Yeah i had this conversation Thursday night when i first heard it. I don't like it but I agree with Jeff i'll wait to see if it accompanies the titles well. Its a bit messy and all over the place.
Well, we'll see I guess. I just remember loving the Casino Royale one and now this really screeching one is the next.....*sigh*.

Yesterday when I posted that link Spin had the entire song and today it's the same short clip BBC had. The sound quality was a lot better also than the YouTube that Rico posted and I think hearing a good quality sound version is important. However, I am not all that thrilled with the sing either. Perhaps I'm too old to really get into the hip hop scene? It just doesn't really grab me. I do like what Jack White has dome with some of the intrumentation. I do agree that we will have to wait and see what the opening credits combined with the song will do for it but if it is getting so much negative reaction I really do think the producers should re-evaluate using it all. They still have plenty of time to come up with something more Bondish.

Wow, that was different - a bit like the title. Is this the first duet for a Bond theme tune? I'm sure the tune will go well with naked silhouettes spinning and jumping around guns
