Title: Google Chrome
Post by: Dan M on September 03, 2008, 04:02:53 PM
Is anyone trying Google's new web browser.

It's nice.  Pages load much faster than FF.

No crashes yet, but I've only had it going for a little while.

All the sites I visit, including this one, look fine.

I didn't know Google had a new browser. How did that one get past me?

I gave it a shot.  For a beta, its interesting.  Probably check out the RTM version but 2 browsers and 3 OS's are enough for me.

Wow - this is pretty cool for a 1st release.  One nice feature is dragging a tab outside the browser and another browser window is created.

I absolutely LOVE Chrome.  I have to use IE at work (our email client doesn't load properly in other browsers), but I use Chrome for my own browsing at work, and for everything at home.  I feel like I come across new little features every day.  I'm totally a Google groupie.

At work I use 3 browsers:

IE for site testing (we only support our app on IE) I hate every second of that junky browser.

Firefox for debuging (the javascript console and development addons make my life wonderful)

Chrome for my general browsing since Firefox with all my addons for development really bogs it down.

At home I'm all Firefox all the time.

Yeah - Firefox all the way baby.  I have to use IE at the new job - and it's version 6 (UGH)!  They have computers at work here that were built before my kids were born.  LOL!  I still need to try out Chrome sometime.

Heard about it, haven't switched/tested, just no interest, but maybe sometime this week I'll give it a try...

Firefox all the way, IE sucks too much.

I use Chrome almost exclusively these days.  I have found it to be fast, uncluttered - and now that Google worked in synchronization of favorites between PC's - I couldn't be happier.
Search is integrated into the address field - this has really spoiled me.

Hmmm. Never tried it.

I've been a slow convert to Firefox and the movement has stopped there. If it works 'enough', I'm not particularly motivated to change.

(IE6 here at work)

May give chrome a bash. I use FF now but according to my ' what laptop magazine' opera 10 was ranked highest. We use opera 10 at work but the main computer is rubbish so everything is slow.
Think I may give chrome a go, can you run it with other browsers or is it best to get rid of them first?

Chrome works flawless side by side with IE8 on my home PC, and IE6 on my work PC.  You will have to play the 'default browser' game - as each one wants to fill that role.  That is easily solved by checking off -'Don't ask again'.

I love Chrome, and hate to use anything else these days.  The Google Voice app extension is incredibly useful and easy to use.  I am spoiled and do all my searches in the address field.

Giving Chrome a try...and I am already worried it will replace Firefox forever.  But its kinda firefox's fault, there have been a few issues here lately that have bugged me:

Flash video (youtube and such) streaming I've been noticing "video lag".  The only way I've been able to fix it is a restart of my system.  I chalked it up as a RAM issue, but side by side, Chrome doesn't have an issue....

Crashing.  Just has been.

Going to test and see if its all that's it cracked up to be.
