If Catwoman Could Turn Back Time ... Cher, Really?
By MICHAEL HINMAN

Christopher Nolan has his choice of anyone to play Catwoman in the proposed third Batman film, including any number of gypsies, tramps and thieves. But instead, he has his sights set on one person: Cher.
Of course, fans are trying to see if playing Catwoman is all she really wants to do.
The Telegraph revealed as much even as other rumor-sharers have expressed belief that Angelina Jolie could be up for the role to potentially join who is reported to be Johnny Depp in the role of The Riddler. Guess it will come down to whomever has a heart of stone.
But enough with the Cher references ... "Cher is Nolan's first choice to play Catwoman," a studio executive reportedly told the British newspaper. "He wants to portray her like a vamp in her twilight years. The new Catwoman will be the absolute opposite of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry's purring creations."
Meow.
While Cher might be known more for the skimpy outfits she wears on aircraft carriers, she is an accomplished actress. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in "Mask" opposite "Caprica" star Eric Stoltz. She was nominated for a best supporting actress Oscar for "Silkwood" in 1983, and later would actually win the statue in 1987 for "Moonstruck."
Of course, any casting or even story talk is nothing but rumor right now, but word is that the third film could be called "The Caped Crusader," although that's likely nothing more than a working title.
The most recent installment, "The Dark Knight" starring Christian Bale and the late Heath Ledger, is expected to cross the $500 million domestic mark this week.
To me this sounds like a horrible idea. However, Catwoman was never one of my favorite arch-villains to begin with. Johnny Depp as the Riddler.....very interesting.
One villain please. The Riddler would be ideal, catwoman, phew nah!. Two face may come back and so to the Joker.
Johnny Depp and Cher? Catwoman and The Riddler?
Something smells like "Batman And Robin". :-\
Then again, Nolan hit a home-run with the last two films. I'll reserve judgement.
...For now.
All just internet chit-chat and rumors for right now. Nolan isn't even a definite to come back - yet.
I think Cher as Catwoman would be a very bad idea. It is true that Cher has had a "few" successes as an actress and all of those were many years ago. I really don't want to see what would be close to a 65 year old has been promenading around on the bigscreen in a catsuit. I can't imagine a more repulsive image.

Will Christopher Nolan Do a Third Batman?

While the internet is going crazy with casting rumors that aren't true for Christopher Nolan's possible third Batman movie, the director himself is on vacation as The Dark Knight approaches $500 million domestically.
The Hollywood Reporter has published an interesting article about the film's marketing and the deaths of both Heath Ledger and Conway Wickliffe before the film's release. The piece ends with a bit on the third installment.
And Warners and Legendary are both interested in doing a third in the series, but all involved say it will be up to Nolan to come to them with a story and a plan.
"There are a lot of us who emotionally would love to do it," Roven says. "But it's really Chris' call. Chris is the kind of filmmaker who just doesn't think about the next movie before he has completely finished the movie he is working on."
For now, Nolan is taking a well-earned vacation.
Says Roven, "When he comes back, we will see how he feels."
We will be waiting patiently...
Yes - like I said up a couple of posts. Nolan hasn't even been signed up for another one ---- yet.
Oooo, the dreaded threequel. You watch, the rumours about Robin will be up next. Noooooooo. :batman

Oh, I can, for sure. Don't you think you're being a bit harsh here? Cher is probably the hottest 70's TV star alive today. If she really is close to 65 I'd say she still looks damn good.

Repulsive? Hardly.
Ah yes Joby, bu was she 65 in that photo? Eh? :biggrin
That picture is probably 30 years old. I really don't want to see Cher in a catsuit.
