Title: Windows Media Player.....srsly??
Post by: KingIsaacLinksr on June 12, 2008, 02:02:03 PM
Well, trying to play some Video WM files today and they are all freaking dark for some reason.  It just started happening today.  Fiddling with WMP video settings didn't help at all, any ideas?  (Itunes playback works JUST fine...)

P.S. Oh and Youtube works.

Most likely the video file is in a weird format and requires a special codec.  There are types of video codecs and files out there than there are stars in the galaxy!  ;)

Try and Google for VLC media player.  It plays everything!

Ok, I now have a screenshot of my problem.  The screen is incredibly dark and almost impossible to see.  I've screwed around with WMP's video settings, but it just makes it worse.  Any ideas on whats wrong?

(This is a DVD on pause, it also affects Internet files)

No, even the camera can't do it justice.  All I can say, is that playing DVDs or w/e on WMP, it has terrible contrast and really dark picture.  I'm not sure what the problem is, as my settings have not changed lately.

What version of WMP do you have? Uninstall it and download the latest version. I should work then.
