Title: Audible.com
Post by: billybob476 on June 12, 2008, 09:52:38 AM
Hey guys, after having it drummed into me in podcast after podcast, I elected to give audible.com a try. I went in and did started up a free 14 days trial (I think I used the twit code...)

I'd just like to hear from people that use the service. How has it been for you? Any issues? How is the selection? I find I like more non-fiction stuff for audio books. I have an iPod so how's the iTunes integration? Can my wife and I share the same audible accounts across 2 computers and 2 iPods?

Any other comments would be great as well.

That's so funny, I just signed up as well. I did it only because I wanted to hear the NPR Radio drama's of Star Wars on the cheap. So far it seems good, but I heven't done anything but donwload the first show.

I am thinking about signing up for Audible.  Are you guys happy with your membership?  I have been picking up audiobooks from iTunes, and this looks like a cheaper way to get unabridged books for my iPod.

Wow, I posted this back in 2008! Been a subscriber since my inital post. I love Audible. I listen to audiobooks while I drive to and from work and especially on long car trips. The selection is awesome, the quality is awesome. Highly recommended.

I canceled as well ages ago. I can't do audio books, I loose track of the story too much. I prefer actually reading. This is mostly becuase besides the car, I usually listen to audio media while running and biking and I am often pre-occupied with that and don't pay too close attention. Podcasts are better training partners.

Interesting, for me, podcasts are good for working but I can't do audiobooks for the reason stated above. When driving or running I can do audiobooks no problem, though I imagine when I'm running I'm not quite as focused as Bryan is! I have headphones in when I bike but that's just for runkeeper pace reports and taking phone calls. I feel like if I'm listening to audio I'll be hit by a car!

I do the audio books during my commute (on the bus or in my care) - but can't listen while walking - biking.  :)  When I am home, I would rather read a book.
