I was pretty blown away last night when my family presented me with my Father's day gift.
Well, it's actually on it's way. :)
As many of you know I love to take pictures, and up till now I have had to borrow the cool camera that I take them with. I don't really take it out of town or anything, cause it belongs to work. Well.... with the little bonus I got for ten years on staff and my kids and wife chipping in... I ordered this kit last night.
This is a really big deal for me, and I am just about as blown away with this as I was when I got an ipod a couple of years ago! SWEET! Now, watch out, I may be a postaholic pretty soon.

Can't wait to get out there and take some pictures!
Great! Sounds like you got quite the package of goodies there!
Ok, here we go!
New pictures with the new camera and lenses.
I'm still trying to get used to it.. but it is very cool.
Check these out- and please tell me what you think!

Vibrant colors, great detail. Good depth of field, and it looks like you have plenty of good source material.
Yes, I live in a very beautiful part of the country. In fact, I'm going out to take a walk right now! It's still nice out!

Great shots Rick. Looks to be an awesome camera!
P.S. I'm curious what resolution you shoot in and the picture file sizes?
I use the camera's highest setting which is 10.1 megapixels. Each file is about 3.8 megs- in JPG format, they end up like 3800 pixels so for the web I reduce them down to 700 with 72 dpi. But for printing and stuff they are bigger. I'm going to experiment with the RAW setting, which makes them much bigger and use the full potential of the higher resolution. I'm reading all about it right now though, and finding I didn't know as much as I thought. :) Isn't that the case with electronics? These machines have so much to them.
wow, excellent photo's Rick, i'm hoping to head over to the states next year so you guys are going to have to tell me where the best places are to go cause so far everything looks amazing.
Just don't go to San Francisco Med's... :thumbsdown :biggrin

I can help, but only with a couple states. Oregon, Washington (sorta) Washington DC and surrounding areas, and California. :)

I wouldn't say they are "recommendations" but more along the line that I know what is around there. :)
