Thanks for another great podcast, Rico! Between your reviews and the upcoming Trek film, I'm finding myself becoming more and more interested in the TOS era of Star Trek.
The Moyer's contribution was awesome as well, and I especially enjoyed Vartok's musical segment-- Bear McCreary's BSG soundtracks are some of the most frequently played parts of my collection.
Keep up the great work!
Thanks! If you have never watched much of the original series, now is the perfect time to start. Some great writing and classic stories in there.
Enjoyed the podcast guys. I don't know how I missed that interview on GeeksOn. Thanks for playing those segments. Bear is SO talented. I see a VERY VERY bright future for him—the next John Williams.
Rico, I'm with you on the creep factor that Captain Kirk gave off in this episode. I always felt a little uncomfortable with those scenes involving Mira and Kirk. Though I've seen it several times, I always expect him to offer her candy or something. Obviously those scenes didn't bother the folks making the show at the time. Even the last line Kirk had was bad... you know, the one where Rand tells him "she really loved you." and he says something to the effect that he's not interested in older women. Sort of sounds like he's turning Rand down because she's too old. :dry :D
Great podcast as always Rico.
Moyers, you should have an opening like this: "The Continuing Antics of the Moyers" in really dramatic and such music lol. ;)
I rate this episode 6.5 out of 10. Its not my favorite of TOS episodes and find it kinda....meh.
Great as always, keep up the good work!

I don't think he was turning Rand down (who is younger than Kirk). It's just a toss away line since Miri is over 300 years old. The Kirk / Miri stuff only seems a bit odd now with all the Kirk being the Galaxy's biggest lothario - I think. But anyway, I don't think anything was really intended by it at the time. Keep in mind this is 60's TV and they didn't show or allude to much at all back then.
Yeah rico ... if I didn't see the show, that clip about miri having the virus could be taken WAY out of context.
Yes, I know. I was joking :D
It still sounds bad.
