Well as some of you know, I am a Sophomore at Michigan State University and studying Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology. Today I officially accepted a job offer for the summer doing research for one of the best biochemistry professors at our school.
I am so very excited to start working this summer and getting some real hands on experience. Not to mention I get paid. I can't believe that for so long I got to watch my Dad be a scientist and do research. Now I get to be a real scientist and do research and bust my butt for what I want. It is amazing because this job actually entails research and won't be just washing dishes. My boss (mentor) is a brilliant man and I'm going to learn a ton.
Basically what I'll be working with is RNA Polymerase II and researching mechanisms and how exactly this enzyme works. It is one of the most intricate enzymes in the human body. Some of the things I'll be doing is Polymerase Chain Reactions, Rapid Chemical Quench flow, phosphorimaging, and running electrophoresis gels. Here's a little bit about my boss and his research, guess you could say my research too.
