Title: Forbidden Planet
Post by: Bromptonboy on April 15, 2008, 03:34:44 PM
I just saw this movie again recently, and what a gem it is!  Loved it as a 10 year old when I first saw it broadcast on TV (not in the theater - I am not that old!).  It is very dated, but holds up surprisingly well I think.

To see Leslie Nielson as the leading man is priceless.  Walter Pidgeon is great, and who can forget the debut of Robby the Robot.

I know this was loosely based upon 'The Tempest' of Shakespeare.

Any other movies that you guys can think of inspired by the old classics?

One of my all time favorite Sci-Fi films.  I talked about it on a very early podcast.  Great, great movie.

P.S.  I'm going to put this post in the movie section.

Thanks for moving it Rico - I realized I goofed on the placement of the post.

I am still working my way through the earlier podcasts, so I will have to check out what you had to say about Forbidden Planet.

What about 'Fantastic Planet'?  Have you see that off-beat animated movie?  Quite good IMHO.

It's on an early podcast when I talked about several of my favorite SF films.  And yes, I saw "Fantastic Planet" quite a long time ago.  Very odd, but interesting.
