Title: New Monitor Suggestions
Post by: Geekyfanboy on March 29, 2008, 08:44:57 AM
Hey Guys... My desktop PC Monitor blew up Thursday night so it looks like I'm in the market for a new monitor. Anyone have any suggestions on a reliable yet inexpensive monitor? Best Brands, or Type. The one I had was part of the package deal I got with Dell. Thanks.

I really like Dell's.  CompUSA online has some great deals these days on monitors too.

The Acer's I've seen have had bad contrast, however they were the lower end ones. I picked up a generic brand 19" LCD from Tigerdirect awhile back, they are dirt cheap (got mine for 160 CAD) and generally look pretty good. i use it as my second monitor, my main is a 21" widescreen Dell. My wife uses the same "Hanns-G" generic as her primary and she's nevr complained.

My son has a 22" Acer and it's very nice.

My friend has his hook to his HDTV. I was thinking of doing the same and finally using my PIP function to multitask. There are benefits to running it through your TV and if you take the monitor money and put that with the TV upgrade money, you can usually come out ahead.

Yeah I've got an extra machine attached to my TV. It's nice but I'd never use it for work.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.. I went to Fry's Electronics yesterday and found a pretty nice monitor for a reasonable price.

LG W2252TQ-TF 22"W LCD Monitor (10000:1 DFC, 2ms, 1680 x 1050) on sale $279.95

With an ultrafast 2 ms response time and Digital Fine Contrast ratio of 10,000:1 contrast for sharp image detail, this 22" widescreen flat-panel LCD monitor delivers the stunning visuals you need for gaming and video viewing.

I tried hooking it up digitally to my computer but had some issues so it's hooked up analog for the time being just so I can use it. It's a pretty nice monitor
