Title: Rick's Tunes
Post by: moyer777 on March 14, 2008, 09:39:31 PM
So I brought a cool keyboard home and have been recording some fun music for the RPG and stuff.  And then in the middle of doing all sorts of stuff-  I made a silly song that I thought you might enjoy.  I call it

TURKEY FEN

Let me know what you think.

Everything is keyboard, multi tracks... hehehehe

That's wild.  Mind if I use a little of it on a podcast sometime Rick?  I'll be sure to credit the creator - of course!

Jen-  the only words on the keyboard that were sampled sounded like tur, key and fen.  and then the numbers.  So I put on a loop and used the keyboard voices.  I got a laugh out of it, because I was wishing for Treks in Sci Fi sampled on it.

So Rico- feel free.  I actually have a little surprise for you that I'm sending today.  When you get it in your inbox, let me know what you think.

and remember.

TURKEY FEN!

I thought you recorded the words for the song and added a filter to make it sound electronic. Too funny! Isn't there a chemical in turkey that starts with "fen"? I heard it makes you sleepy. :D

So, I spent the weekend recording some songs.  I thought I would share a couple.  If you want anymore stuff like this just email me and I will try and get you some others.  This is just a little diddy called plasma2

http://www.clfgraysharbor.com/songs/plasma2.mp3 (http://www.clfgraysharbor.com/songs/plasma2.mp3)

I don't know if he is still on the air but there was a weekly star-gazing show on PBS (I think).  Your music reminds me of the show theme.

Some of it reminds me of the Soundtrack from Mass Effect. These are wonderful Rick. Thanks for doing them. :)
Title: A tribute to Buck
Post by: moyer777 on March 17, 2008, 01:42:54 PM
So when I was a kid, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century was a real hit for me.  One of my all time favorite scenes is where Buck gets the band to play some cool music in the pilot episode.

here is my tribute to Buck's dance with the Princess.

I lloved Buck Rogers when i was akid, i must have been around 10 when it aired in England, plus i seemed to like Col. Deering. According to IMDB they used props from Battlestar.
Title: Jen's song
Post by: moyer777 on March 24, 2008, 10:26:27 AM
So Jen had a melody that she had written and she sent it to me on an mp3.  She played the violin.. nice!  I took it and made it into a free style piano, violin and french horn tune.

Please, take a listen and let me know what you think.

Thanks. :) But Rick actually added all the life to it.
I learned to play the fiddle by ear. I don't read music, so I didn't write it down... I just recorded myself playing the melody that I created and sent it to Rick to finish for me. :)

He was using the synthesizer for the violin part, but it would be cool to hear some parts of the finished piece played with a violin.

Title: Space, its what's for dinner
Post by: moyer777 on March 28, 2008, 08:08:50 AM
So here is an interesting little theme that I played around with.

I used an orchestra setting and then played with french horn, oboe and piano tones.

The beginning reminded me of the old "Beef, its what's for dinner" commercial.  Don't ask me why!

Anyway, take a listen and let me know what you think.

Title: Vocal Project
Post by: moyer777 on April 08, 2008, 04:49:46 PM
So we were going through some boxes today and found a recording I did for a friend of mine in his studio.  He usually writes for hard rock bands, but wanted to do a sappy love song.  So he called me up.  He wrote this song years ago and invited me to come sing it in the studio.  So I spent 13 hours on it.  We had a blast but my throat was pretty raw afterwards. I even played piano on it and did all my own back up vocals.  Pretty fun.   It's a love song...  :wub

It's called Another chance at Heaven.

Check it out and let me know what you think.  It's very early 90's.

Hey Rick,

Just listened to your last two tunes Release and Angels we have heard.

In "Release" it sounds like you have a theme for the RPG drama there. Very nice feel. I love that we both use the Korg Trident instrument, it has a unmistakable sound in it's Combo patches.

"Angels we have heard" is a great contemporary arrangement and is very heart felt. Kinda welled up when I listened to it pal. Very nicely done.

New studio setup? Would than include any of the gift I sent you some months back? That would be great news. I so wanted to make a difference for you in that area.

Play on Rick!,
Rob

So, Rob (Tan-Ru) emails me this morning with this great arrangement for the Christmas song, it's jazzy and very cool sounding.  So, I added the main vocals, the harmonies, sent it back to him for a keyboard solo, VERY FUN!  He does all this music on his computer and synth.  Very cool.

Ok here you go take a listen and let us know what you think!
