STO - mini Game Needs Beta Testers

STSOURCE.com has been working on a star trek online mini game. They are currently launching their second beta stage has and beta testers are needed.

If you are interested in becoming one of their beta people for this and possible future developments then registrations are being taken http://www.stosource.com/forum-t127.html (http://www.stosource.com/forum-t127.html)

The STO - mini game supports a number of player "races" from the Federation to Klingon and Romulan to as far away as Kazon and Species 8472. Each race has it's own traits and play styles each of which will be revealed here in coming weeks.

I'm curious as to how this could mini game could possibly be ready for beta if P2 ceased work on it, and gave it away. Who is it that is asking for beta testers? There's nothing on the web site that identifies them. Is it even the same game? What's a mini game? I guess I should have asked this before I signed up for their forum.  :D

Well... I've signed up as a beta tester and was informed yesterday that I will be able to sign in on Monday and give it a whirl. Will keep you informed as to what the heck this is. On the boards there, they said STO was canceled. So what is this we're testing? They call it a mini game... but what does that mean? Nothing really has been said regarding this.

I'm just as confused, but will try it out myself as well.

I'm about an inch away from trying to unregister myself at the site...  the lack of content there is starting to get frustrating...

Well... I went to log on and there isn't an readily apparent section with which do DO SO. I asked the moderator what the heck a STO "mini game" was and this is all I got as a reply: "It's a tick based browser game."
Uh.. English please code monkey.

Tick based is old scool meaning you can do only so many moves per hour or day depending on the game

I posted this on their forum:

Hi, I am curious why your url includes"STO" and why you are displaying graphics from the Star Trek Online game in your gallery if this mini game is not actually Star Trek Online, and as you said, is not graphic intensive. Aside from the description 'tick based browser game', I would suggest a thread where the details of what we can expect and how you are affiliated to STO are laid out. I am curious, are you the company who bought the STO graphics from P2 or is this game simply inspired by the original STO? I have found no info regarding this on your site. Also, I was registered as a beta tester and told the game would be up Monday morning (today), but I was never told where to log on to play test it, and can not find a entry point on your web site... Did it go up? Or was it delayed? Just wondering what's up.

Well, I got an answer to the question I posted on the STO Source site (I pasted it above).

Here's what their moderator says:
"This site was originally an STO fan site. The mini game was developed to fill the gap between dev time and release. But I can see how that would be confusing to a new comer.

Regarding beta release - unfortunately we had some technical issues over the weekend and have had to revert to an earlier iteration of the code. I will be sending a message out soon with a revised date for opening.

I hope this answers all your questions.

I've taken the screenshots down, don't want to cause any more confusion. I'll re-populate with our in game screenies when avilable..."

So... They have nothing to do with STO. I would play the game, but I can't find it anywhere... I still plan on checking it out if and when I ever find it.
