In a recent interview Abrams hinted that there will be a death in the new film and he implies it will be one of the main characters. Here is what he said:
Quote"It won't suffer from the problem that traditional prequels suffer from; that you know all the characters will live."
So do you think that "old" Spock will not come out alive this time and that this film will give real closure to the character of Spock? Or at least the Leonard Nimoy version?

---- edit ---- I have edited this post and marked it spoilers. Please try and not list a possible important plot point in the thread title. Rumor or not there is little way to avoid something if the title spells it out.
That...to me, seems a little dumb considering we had three movies about the "death" of spock. Why kill him again?

As Spock would say,
"I've been dead before."
Yeah Spock dying is getting a little old.
If he does kill him off...well.....J.J. is going to get a little more hate mail than he'll like. I don't usually have a problem with this sort of thing, but to kill off Spock would be anti-climactic and just...a waste of screen time.

I don't think I care one way or another at this point. With the proposed rewrites of history and the fact that Old Spock might not be seeing the screen again, it really doesn't matter unless you are writing fan fic about it.
